I didn't pick up, but got a feeling this was one of those "Microsoft" scams where someone rings up and tries to get your bank details by saying your computer's got some fake issue.

Somebody phoned me claiming to be from Microsoft, said my computer was at risk and asked me to open something called Event Viewer. They actually used the name of the person who had my BT landline before me, I think. I didn’t trust it and ended the call straight away. They rang again a bit later, first on my landline then on my mobile from 07900 234861. When I checked my call log on 1471, it showed a weird pause in the number after 07900, which made me think it could have been fake.

Just to add, I read on howtogeek.com about this classic trick where someone pretends to be from Microsoft and rings you. They get you to open the Event Viewer on your computer, pointing out all the error messages you’ll notice. Then, they try to convince you to give your credit card details to sort out those ‘problems’. Pretty sneaky if you ask me.

Be careful not to share any of your personal information with whoever’s ringing you, they’re probably up to no good and looking to scam you.

Someone rang me up saying they needed to discuss my internet, but when I tried returning the call the number turned out to be disconnected.
