A caller accused me of exploiting a government initiative two decades ago to insulate my loft. They claimed the insulation product used at the time was likely to be failing, leading to potential condensation issues. They proposed sending a surveyor to assess my loft's condition. It appears to be a scam aimed at gaining entry into my home and convincing me to undergo unnecessary repairs. However, little do they know that my family has resided in the house for many years and I insulated the loft specifically for my mother's benefit.

I received a rather dodgy phone call from a supposedly SMG insurance representative about renewing my household appliance insurance. I found it hard to believe, as I've never held such a policy. So, I decided to play along just to see how far they’d go with this ruse. Eventually, he started probing for my banking details, cunningly couching his request by asking which bank I use. When I pointed out that, given I had no prior policy, he ought to know this information already, he brushed me off, insisting it was exclusive to past documents. A word of caution: don't fall for this individual's ploys! He spoke rather fluently and even knew my name, so I suspect he has access to some sort of contact list or data. - Caller ID: 01202 055080

this evening, my wife got a call from this number. a lady on the phone started talking about our appliance insurance being switched over to some other company. she tried to get my wife’s card details by claiming they already knew our bank and even the first four digits of our card. which is kinda easy info to find online really. once my wife said no, they just cut the call.

In our eighties, my wife and I face challenges, especially my wife who has cancer and arthritis that greatly affects her mobility. Often, it takes her a considerable amount of time to reach the phone, making it quite difficult. Unfortunately, this particular phone number constantly calls us, and sometimes even multiple times a day. However, due to our delayed response in reaching the phone, they usually do not stay on the line after we answer. It appears that they may be involved in some sort of insurance scam. Is there any possible way for us to prevent them from calling us?

A certain company called my 84-year-old father, leading him to believe that he already had a policy with them. Upon discovering that this was not true, he became extremely upset. To make matters worse, he was coerced into providing his bank card details without knowing any information about the company. I couldn't believe my fortune when the same company rang me a week later. After patiently hearing their rehearsed sales pitch, I thanked them for providing the necessary information to report their actions. However, the lady on the other end responded rudely and abruptly ended the call. I kindly request that you kindly report this company to as many relevant agencies as possible.

Got a call around 7.15pm today, and because the number showed my local area code (01202), I thought it might be someone I know or a legit call. When I answered, the caller just hung up straight away. I tried ringing back, only to get a recorded message saying they don’t take incoming calls! I’m not insured with any protection like that, so I’ve flagged their number as a nuisance now. I’m honestly fed up with all these spam calls lately, even though I’m on the official TPS list.

Had another ring later the same day. My wife answered first and passed it over to me. I heard the same dodgy tale he tried earlier. Lucky for him he called again cos I got to give him a dose of good old British sarcasm, which he seemed to enjoy, chuckling along. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the fact that these scumbags might fool some poor soul, it’d just be laughable. It’s hard to think of a more desperate scam run by such worthless lowlifes.

It was the second call of the day. My wife answered and passed me the phone. I heard the familiar fraudulent story he had told me earlier.
I must admit, I'm glad he called back. It gave me the opportunity to unleash some good old-fashioned British insults at him, which he returned with laughter. If it wasn't for the possibility of vulnerable individuals being deceived by these scammers, it would almost be amusing. It's hard to imagine a more pathetic scam carried out by such low-life individuals.

I just received an unexpected phone call from a company. The person on the other end informed me that my household appliances were on a more expensive insurance tariff than necessary, but he could help me switch to the correct one at a lower cost. I asked him which appliances this insurance covered (since I am only insured through my home contents insurance), and he mentioned my oven hob and fridge. I explained that I had no such coverage and expressed my concerns about being sold something I didn't need. Suddenly, he ended the call abruptly. When I tried to call the number back, all I heard was an automated message from "Appliance Protection" stating that they do not accept incoming calls and to leave a message. Notably, the mailbox was full and unable to receive any more messages. It is quite evident that these people are fraudsters! Please exercise caution if you encounter them.

I’ve just received an unexpected phone call from this lot. The person on the other end claimed my household devices were covered under a more costly plan than necessary and he could switch me to a cheaper one. When I quizzed him about which appliances he was referring to, considering I have no specific insurance apart from what my home contents policy provides, he mentioned my oven and fridge as being insured. I informed him I didn’t have any separate coverage and expressed my anxiety over his apparent attempt to sell me something I neither wanted nor needed. At that point, he abruptly disconnected the call. When I attempted to ring the number back, I was greeted with a robotic message stating, “You were called by Appliance Protection. This number does not take incoming calls. Please leave a message after the tone.” That was soon followed by the same voice declaring the mailbox was full and couldn’t accept any more messages. It’s clear these individuals are attempting to pull a fast one - tread carefully! - Caller claimed to be from SMG Insurance Appliance Protection.

I received a rather puzzling call from a company called SMG, claiming to discuss my household appliance insurance. To be fair, I was quite baffled and replied with, "I haven’t a clue what you mean." Surprisingly, they just cut the line! - Caller: SMG

A call was made to my grandfather's landline indicating that his insurance company had transferred him to a new provider. This is distressing because my grandfather, who is 70 years old and suffering from dementia, falls prey to these scams frequently. The caller went beyond and attempted to obtain my grandfather's bank details for verification purposes. Thankfully, I was present at the time as my grandfather requested my assistance in finding his notebook containing such information. Taking control of the phone, I started asking queries of my own before the caller abruptly ended the call. It angers me to witness these deceptive practices and question why individuals engage in such behavior.

I received a rather irate call from a chap named George representing SMG, who was trying to convince me to switch my insurance for home appliances. This guy claimed he was from some company called SMG and asked if I’d noticed their vans with a gold tick on the side. He told me I had insurance on three appliances worth a certain sum, and said he could cut the cost. When I asked what appliances and then for my bank details, he couldn’t answer. He kept saying he'd send me some paperwork because I seemed hesitant. Honestly, sounded like a total scam to me.
