Got a call from an Asian guy saying he was from M&S, he actually knew my name and old postcode. He asked if that was right, I said no, then he wanted to know my new one. Hey, I just got a call from a really blunt woman claiming to be from M&S, and she said she already had my name and postcode. She asked what kind of phone I have and then just cut me off. Just got a call from this number, sounded like an Indian accent and claimed to be from M&S. They already knew my old postcode which I confirmed, then asked if I was between 18 and 79. I said yes. Next, they asked if I used an iPhone or Samsung, I said iPhone. Then asked if it was a 5 or 6, I said 5. The call ended with a polite thank you. It seemed odd after because M&S isn’t really connected with phones. Has anyone else had experiences with this number? I just noticed a missed call from this number and looked it up here to see who it might be - it reminded me of a call I got a few weeks back from someone pretending to be from Marks and Spencer (which I have no dealings with, so I was a bit suspicious right away). Sounds like one of those North African scams. They try to find out what phone you’ve got and then get you to punch in some codes that end up installing ransomware on your device. After that, your phone gets locked and encrypted, and they demand money to let you use it again. Total nightmare.
