3 yearsHow peculiar! My mum encountered a rather troubling situation on her laptop. An alarming pop-up appeared proclaiming, “I can assist you in unlocking your device” with a prompt to “click here”. Unfortunately, she fell for it and ended up receiving a call from someone named Terry using this number. To my dismay, he proceeded to request payment of £800 via her debit card! Understandably, she was beside herself with worry, promptly cancelled her card, and rang him back only for him to assert that he would continue working on the computer. I suspect she inadvertently granted him access to her device. We've powered down the computer, but I'm left in the dark as to whether he might have gained entry to her banking details or whatnot.
