I received a rather dodgy call this morning from someone who had my name and address but spoke in a rather jumbled way. They claimed I was owed a cheque for an undisclosed sum and then proceeded to ask me for my date of birth to 'verify' my identity. I sensibly declined, pointing out that if they had my details, they should be able to send the cheque without further prompting. This seemed to infuriate him, so I promptly hung up. Clearly, it was just another scam attempt.

I can’t believe what I just heard! Someone actually called my dear old mum, promising her a cheque for £3,600 to be sent directly to her doorstep. The catch? She would have to dash down to the post office and fork out £360 just to get it. Honestly, how shameless can people be? Absolutely scandalous!
