I reckon this was a total scam. I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent who said her name was Alison Markum and claimed she was ringing from “3” to give me a 45% discount on my monthly bill. She kept pestering me to reveal which provider I used and the amount I was paying. When I told her it was just £5 a month, she just hung up on me without even an apology for not being able to assist!
