My answerphone picked up a pre-recorded message claiming my credit card was charged thousands on Amazon. I just ignored it and deleted the message straight away.

We tried ringing the number back, but the guy on the line said it was his personal number and he wasn’t the one who called us. He mentioned he’s been getting loads of calls like ours and has already told BT about it. Sounds like someone might be spoofing his number.

The person calling never said their name or pressed #, so Callguardian just stopped the call from coming through again.
