Got a call from this call centre in Manila, Philippines. They’re obviously paid next to nothing and don’t seem bothered since they work for a dodgy company named Yell that’s all about cold calling. It’s clear they’re short on cash and stuck in these grim call centre jobs. Occasionally, you also receive calls from a Scottish call centre where decent work is pretty rare as well.

This number has called me a few times. Today, when it showed up, I let it ring through to voicemail. It looked like they were about to leave a message but never actually did. I wasn't able to end the call normally, so I ended up blocking the number. When I tried to check my voicemail by dialling 1571, it said the line was busy. Somehow, they kept the line tied up. I had to switch off the phone and unplug it to fix the problem. Just a warning, I don’t reckon this number is genuine.

I got a call from an Asian guy claiming he was ringing about a free listing of our business on Yell[###], wanting to update our info. I told him to wait a sec and checked his number on my caller ID. After seeing loads of bad reviews about this number, I told him I’d looked into it and they weren’t legit Yell[###] people, then I just hung up. I even tried to ring back myself (blocking my own number) and it doesn’t exist. Sounds like some call centre overseas pretending to be from the UK. DO NOT give them any details.

It was an Asian bloke who couldn’t even spell my business name properly, claiming he wanted to update my listing. I told him, “How do you think I put up my free listing? I did it myself by logging into yell[###].” I said I don’t need any changes, but if I did, I’d just do it myself online. Then he said, “Alright, we’ll send a letter then!” A letter for what, exactly? Nah, I told him bye and hung up.

Seems like they follow up on spammy emails they send out weeks before, pushing you to pay for an upgrade from the free listing. Best just ignore it and block the number if you’re not interested.
