This morning I got a call from this number, with a bloke pretending to be from some Industrial injury department in Plymouth. He had a London accent and somehow knew both mine and my husband's names. Sounded like they were coming from North Manchester-perhaps Bury? When I inquired about how they obtained my information, they promptly disconnected the call! Just picked up a call from this number. They asked for me, so I asked who it was (“National Advice Clinic” or something like that). I said, “Hold on a sec, I’ll get her,” but didn’t actually go get anyone. I just left the phone on the windowsill and got on with my stuff. After about five minutes, I ended the call! I guess I kept their outgoing line busy that whole time? I do this whenever an unknown voice or company rings me. It’s a bit cheeky, but it always works! Give it a go.

Just got a call from someone claiming their records show I worked in a factory. Well, maybe, but it was in an office, not the factory floor. When I asked what the call was about, they just hung up. What database are they even using? I’m on the TPS, so why am I getting contacted? I can’t imagine anyone actually signs up for whatever “services” they’re pushing. Got a call from them today, claiming they know I worked in the Industry and have my name and address. I told them to get lost and not to ring me again. They called back 3 more times after that. We had a few more words, and I warned them if they called again I’d give them a mouthful. Now they're threatening to come round and sort me out. I’m looking forward to that meeting. They really haven’t got a clue who they’re dealing with or what I’m capable of.

Got a call from some guy who already knew my name and where I live. He went on about how their files said I’d been working somewhere noisy. I told him that was rubbish and asked where he even got that from, and he just cut me off straight away. How come it’s totally fine for companies to trade our details around? Most of the time when a number I don't know rings, I just stay quiet. Like, 90% of those calls are robots that wait for you to speak, and if you don’t say a word, they just drop the call. Doesn’t feel as good as giving them a real mouthful though! - caller: 0118 435 9998

My phone rang while I was out for a bit, and luckily my other half answered and quickly ended the call before the person could say anything. After reading these comments, I reckon we dodged a bullet! If they call back, at least I'll be on my guard and know it's dodgy. Caller ID showed as 'unknown'.

This morning, I got a ring from a guy with a northern accent, saying I'd supposedly been employed in Industry and started asking for info. I just told him he must already have everything and hung up straight away. Thing is, I've never had a job in Industry at all. Got a call from this number, my partner didn’t know who it was so he picked up, said he’d ask me and then just put the phone down on the couch and carried on with his puzzle. Since they pay for the call, he figured why not make them spend a bit more. Might be a good trick to put off these calls.

Got a call from a lady saying their records indicate I hadn’t done an industrial hearing test, asking if I wanted to book one. I said I’ve never worked in any industry - then she just hung up. I’m on the TPS list and will report this to Ofcom too. It’s about time Ofcom steps up and sorts these kind of calls out.

Got a call from this number earlier today. The guy said he was from the National Advice Clinic and asked if I was 'Mrs Lake.' I said yes, but then he started calling me by my mum's name. This number rang me up and asked for me by my first name. I assumed it was some kind of recruitment firm, as they started asking how many years I’d been working in the field. Then suddenly they mentioned making a claim for industrial deafness. I said that didn’t apply to me and asked where they’d found my info. They said it was from a third party, but then just hung up without giving any more details.
