I told him I didn’t have any deals like that, then he starts naming other banks like Barclays and Lloyds trying to confuse me. Once I said I wasn’t owed a penny, he just cut me off! Very suspicious.

Got a call on my phone today from someone who knew my name, said they were checking into MBNA and Capital One debts I supposedly had. Seemed a bit off, not very clear. When I asked how they got my number, they said it was from some Marketing Database. Might fool a few, but definitely just trying to take advantage of people - caller ID showed Red Star.

The person said they’d send me some paperwork through the post that I could fill out to try and claim the money, and told me my claim looked strong. Spam call - they rang me three times. First time, no one said a word before cutting off. Second time, just a quick “hello” then disconnected. The third time, I phoned them back and asked, “Did you just try to call me?” I told them it was one of those PPI scams. When I asked for their name, they ended the call straight away. BEST NOT TO CONFIRM YOUR NUMBER BY PICKING UP OR RETURNING THE CALL - this is definitely a PPI scammer.
