Got a call on my phone today from someone who knew my name, said they were checking into MBNA and Capital One debts I supposedly had. Seemed a bit off, not very clear. When I asked how they got my number, they said it was from some Marketing Database. Might fool a few, but definitely just trying to take advantage of people - caller ID showed Red Star.

It was a woman on the line talking about my credit cards and offering to help me get back my interest payments. I explained that I prefer to pay in cash and only use my card for convenience, paying the full balance at the end of the month. Despite this, she insisted on seeing what she could do for me. Frustrated, I decided to hang up.

Surprisingly, they asked for me by my previous name, and being aware that no one by that name resides here anymore, I informed them accordingly. Spam call - they rang me three times. First time, no one said a word before cutting off. Second time, just a quick “hello” then disconnected. The third time, I phoned them back and asked, “Did you just try to call me?” I told them it was one of those PPI scams. When I asked for their name, they ended the call straight away. BEST NOT TO CONFIRM YOUR NUMBER BY PICKING UP OR RETURNING THE CALL - this is definitely a PPI scammer.
