Received a call on my mobile today from someone claiming to be from Red Star. They mentioned my name and stated they were investigating a matter regarding unpaid funds from MBNA and Capital One. To be honest, their explanation felt somewhat unclear. When I inquired how they obtained my number, they responded with "Marketing Database." I can imagine that some might fall for this trick, but it clearly seems to be a bit of a con job!

They were prattling on about some credit agreement linked to a credit card and the possibility of claiming back PPI or whatever else they think can be claimed. I politely declined their offer, but the chap on the other end turned rather belligerent. He had the audacity to imply that since I once had a credit card, I must be interested in money, which was utterly ridiculous. Rubbish Call - I’ve had three encounters with them. Initially, there was just silence before they disconnected. The second time, they greeted me and promptly hung up again. On the third occasion, I decided to ring them back - they queried if I’d missed a call from them. When I confirmed it was indeed a missed call, they announced it was something to do with PPI nonsense. I pressed for details about who was on the other end, and quicker than you could blink, they dropped the line. AVOID CONFIRMING YOUR NUMBER BY ANSWERING OR CALLING BACK - it’s just a PPI nuisance!
