Got a call that sounded like it was from my bank, saying they’d blocked some cash leaving my account and to press 1 if I wanted to speak to someone. Bit suspicious if you ask me!

Somebody with a foreign accent said he was calling from BT, saying there had been complaints about my broadband speed being slow. I couldn’t quite catch what he was on about, so I asked him to say it again, which seemed to annoy him. Then when I told him my internet was working fine, he just ended the call.

I received a call from 01183800523 on the 8th of September. When I answered, the voice on the other end didn’t identify themselves properly - I firmly believe it’s only polite to state one’s name and purpose in the UK. Quite rudely, the caller then just hung up on me! I didn’t bother to call back, as I find it rather suspicious. The phone display showed “reading” too. Very peculiar, indeed!

When I asked who was calling, she just said something like "I’m ok, [unintelligible]?" Then she gave a name I couldn't catch properly and insisted it wasn’t a sales pitch so I shouldn’t worry. I told her I suspected it was some kind of scam and ended the call right away.
