This woman named Serena called me, sounded like she had an accent from abroad and said she worked for Valda Energy. She started asking stuff about our energy contract. I had a feeling it was a scam straight away. I told her we don't share any details on calls and asked her to send an email instead.

Got a dodgy call from some energy company claiming to be legit but it was clearly a scam. The lady spoke perfect BBC accent but in the background you could hear other voices chatting in some Indian language. What’s worse, about 15 minutes before this we received a call from 0113 468 4445 checking if our number was active. Turns out both these numbers are run through Gamma Telecom, so definitely watch out!

I got a call out of the blue about some kind of loft insulation survey, and they already had my name and where I live. They wanted info like my age, if I live on my own, and what sort of insulation I have up there. At first, I thought it might be legit since they mentioned local loft companies, but now I’m not convinced. I’m usually pretty sharp with these calls and told them I was suspicious, but the person talking was really smooth. Honestly, don’t trust them with your details. I regret giving any info to them.

I chose to ignore the call. It showed up as coming from Reading, but I can’t think why anyone from there would be ringing me, nor do I know anyone in that area. So, I just blocked the number without replying. What’s really annoying is that now these calls are coming from all sorts of places across the UK - Manchester, Glasgow, Sheffield, even London and Birmingham. I’m in a tiny town in Devon called Bideford and it’s happening here too. This nonsense is getting totally out of control, honestly there should be some law to stop it once and for all!
