Beware of dodgy phone calls claiming to be from Microsoft! Just had a bloke on the line pretending to be a technician, insisting that there’s an issue with my computer. Whatever you do, don’t give out any personal information! Stay vigilant!

Got a call from a Reading number earlier today but I let it ring out since I didn’t recognise it. They didn’t bother leaving any voicemail either.

About 20 minutes back, I got a missed call from this number, but no voicemail left (around 10.38). I'm really shocked how they even got hold of my digits. Seems like our privacy rules just aren't enforced properly here.

I reckon this is a bit dodgy, to say the least. My mum fell victim to a similar con not long ago. They managed to keep her chatting for over an hour, all the while pestering her to wire funds to some bloke named Dan Cooper via Western Union. They also tried to fish for her banking details, so it’s best to keep that info close to your chest!

I got a call from someone saying they were from Microsoft, telling me to visit [#]impcremote[###] so they could supposedly fix problems on my computer by accessing it remotely. It’s obviously a trick to get into your PC and steal stuff, so definitely don’t trust these people.

I actually fell victim to this scam myself, and it definitely looks like cybercrime to me! Microsoft UK made it clear they don’t contact customers out of the blue, either by phone or email. Earlier today, on 26/01/2016 before 10am, I reported the incident and got a case number: 1324 1356 95. They've recommended I report it to the federal cybercrime police because the scammers were trying to get my credit card details for supposed online payments. To trick people, they ask you to ring +44 118 328 7009, pretending to be from Microsoft.
