I got a ring from someone saying they were from “Microsoft” and that my computer was showing some kind of hack error. Told them to call back later so I could look into it. Had a quick read on pcadvisor and turns out it’s just a scam.

On 28th June 2016 around 2:20pm, I received a phone call from a woman with a thick Indian accent introducing herself as Jacqueline Jackson. Just like in other cases I’ve heard about, she insisted she was calling from Microsoft and warned that my computer was allegedly transmitting data to them because it had been compromised. I told her straight up I wasn’t buying her story and that it sounded like a classic scam to trick me into letting them install something to steal my banking info. After that, I ended the call.

I had a rather suspicious phone call today, where the caller insisted that my computer had been compromised by fraudsters. They were keen for me to verify my computer's registration number. When I expressed my doubts about their legitimacy, they promptly transferred me to someone who claimed to be the Technical Manager, providing me with a number and an ID that was supposedly linked to Microsoft. Honestly, I suspect that if I were to call that number back, they’d answer as if they were indeed Microsoft. To be on the safe side, I’ve reported the incident through Microsoft’s dedicated scam reporting service.

Just got a ring at 8.10am from some bloke with an Indian accent saying he was calling from Windows support in Reading. He told me my computer was hacked and their server had flagged it or something. The guy called himself Peter Robinson and wanted to get into my computer remotely to fix it. No way mate, total scam!

I recently had a rather peculiar encounter with a caller who claimed to be from a tech support team. They insisted that I confirm my Microsoft Windows Licence ID, but I wasn't having any of it. Now they're barking threats about locking me out of my computer! The number they used was 0118 328 3136, claiming to be situated in Reading. Quite the cheeky scam, if you ask me!

I received a call that seemed rather authentic and rather crafty... it had me fooled for a bit there. Just a heads up, folks! The caller claimed to be from Microsoft, yet they left a different number: 0118 328 3136, while the original came from 01992 613 265. Be on your guard!
