I got a ring from someone saying they were from “Microsoft” and that my computer was showing some kind of hack error. Told them to call back later so I could look into it. Had a quick read on pcadvisor and turns out it’s just a scam.

On 28th June 2016 around 2:20pm, I received a phone call from a woman with a thick Indian accent introducing herself as Jacqueline Jackson. Just like in other cases I’ve heard about, she insisted she was calling from Microsoft and warned that my computer was allegedly transmitting data to them because it had been compromised. I told her straight up I wasn’t buying her story and that it sounded like a classic scam to trick me into letting them install something to steal my banking info. After that, I ended the call.

Got a call earlier today saying someone had hacked into my computer. They asked me to verify my computer's registration code. When I questioned if the call was legit, they passed me to a "Technical Manager" who gave me a phone number and a supposed Microsoft ID. Pretty sure if you ring that number back, it'll come up as Microsoft. I've reported the whole thing to Microsoft's support scam team just to be safe.

Just got a ring at 8.10am from some bloke with an Indian accent saying he was calling from Windows support in Reading. He told me my computer was hacked and their server had flagged it or something. The guy called himself Peter Robinson and wanted to get into my computer remotely to fix it. No way mate, total scam!
