01183280441 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 01183280441 👆 is reported as a persistent HMRC impersonation scam involving automated calls and voicemails threatening legal action over alleged tax fraud or underpayment. Callers, often using names like James Anderson or James Henderson with suspicious accents, demand urgent callbacks to avoid arrest or court proceedings. The scam is widely recognised by victims and official sources as fraudulent, as HMRC never contacts individuals via text or aggressive phone threats. Many users advise against engaging, suggesting recipients block the number and report it to the genuine HMRC or Action Fraud. The scam attempts to extract personal details or payments but lacks legitimacy, with formal legal communications always sent in writing. Vigilance and refusal to respond to such calls is the recommended course of action.

Got a text from someone claiming to be HMRC saying I’ve got a tax refund waiting. Just so you know, HMRC doesn’t send texts about refunds, so it’s definitely a scam. Don’t fall for it!

A few weeks back, my aunt got one of those calls from someone claiming to be HMRC. They tried to con her out of more than £600. Thankfully, she didn’t fall for it, but it was close. These scammers are really preying on vulnerable folks. We’ve blocked the number now to avoid any more hassle.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC saying I hadn’t paid enough tax and that they were about to issue an arrest warrant. They said I should hit 1 to talk to an officer and sort it out by paying the tax straight away on the phone. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

Got a ring from this digit today. The bloke said he was James Anderson from HMRC and insisted I needed to listen to his voicemail and phone back straight away or else they'd get a warrant through the courts. Pretty sure it was a scam, no way I'm phoning them back. The number was hidden too.

Got a recorded call on my phone from someone claiming to be James Anderson from 'HMRC'. The voice had an American accent and the recording kept cutting out. The number showed as 014438 940554 from Stevenage. They said I needed to call back because there was a 'complaint' against me. Sure, like I’m buying that!

Got a couple of calls from some bloke called James Anderson claiming to be from HMRC. Left a voicemail warning me about legal trouble if I didn’t call him back. Honestly, I’m just gonna ignore it and see what happens!

I got a call from someone named James Henderson, but it was definitely not a real person. The voice sounded like some kind of robot, really fake and metallic. It was on my mobile phone, which is odd because hardly anyone has that number, and I barely use it at all. Definitely not a genuine human voice!

Got a call from someone named James Anderson, claiming to be from HMRC. He was really pushy, saying I'd be arrested for tax evasion unless I paid £6486. Quite scary, but I’m pretty sure it’s a scam.

Got a voicemail from some bloke saying he was James Anderson from HMRC. He warned me about court proceedings unless I called him back to sort out some payment. It’s a complete con! I’ve blocked the number and am letting HMRC know about it.

Just like everyone else here, it’s clear this bloke’s pretty daft if he reckons this kind of call means anything. Honestly, if you ever pick up one of these calls by accident, just tell them to send you something in writing and that you’ll look into it, then hang up. In Europe, nobody’s going to drag you to court without sending a proper letter first. Dead simple.

Got a call like this too, some bloke claiming I was being sued for dodging tax and telling me to ring them back. When I did, I ended up talking to a man named Danny - I knew his voice from the voicemail he left. He kept insisting on getting my full name and number before putting me through to some James Anderson. I wasn’t having it and just hung up. Glad to see others have had the same experience here.

Like loads of these scam calls, they’ve stuck their number on a dodgy ad for a 60-inch Samsung TV nearby, saying you can ring them to sort delivery. Their number’s also popped up everywhere - on PPI claim sites, gyms and even estate agents. Bet they’ll be well fed up having to pick up all those calls soon enough!

when I get calls like that, I just tell them to send me a letter and I'll look into it, then I cut them off. I've heard that in Europe, they can't drag you into court without first sending some kind of official warning in writing. makes the whole thing easier to handle!

This number 01183280441 rang me up pretending to be James Anderson. When I rang back to ask what department he was from, he claimed to be with HMRC. I asked where he was located and he said HMRC London. I found it fishy since the call came from a Reading area code. I told him that didn’t add up, and he just told me to look them up. I didn’t waste any more time and hung up.
