Got a call from a woman who said her name was Jade and claimed to be from a building survey company. She said she was checking up because quite a few homes nearby had problems with damp and mould in their lofts. I told her my loft was perfectly fine and she just ended the call. Seems like a typical cold call rather than a real business. She did know the street I live on, which worries me a bit, so I’m definitely going to report it to the Telephone Preference Service.

Around lunchtime, I received a call from a rather courteous gentleman with a lovely English accent who knew my name. When I inquired, “What’s the purpose of your call?” he replied, “I’m not selling anything, sir.” He then swiftly and politely wrapped up the conversation. Quite the peculiar encounter!

Yes, I’m with you, it’s definitely a scam and they just don’t care about the TPS list. However, the number they used is actually a genuine Reading one - Reading's area code is 0118, and after that, it might start with 3, 9 or even other numbers maybe. The people who rang said they were from "Property Performance."
