Got another dodgy call today, some bloke who picked up on me saying they can ring all they want but I won’t give them anything. He just said alright and then ended the call.

Earlier today (16th Oct, about 12:45pm), my parents got a phone call on their landline from a younger bloke claiming to work at 'Building Regulatory Services' based in Kings Cross. He told them his firm recently took over another company (he tried to spell it out as “LOPALA ICYLENE”) that originally fitted their foam insulation. Apparently, they now need to send out updated warranty certificates. When I looked it up quickly, I found that a US company called “Icynene-Lapolla” which makes foam insulation was actually bought out by “Huntsman” between 2018 and 2020 - not recently, like this caller said. Sounds like he’s either guessing or fishing to see if my parents have foam insulation in their walls. Feels very much like a scam trying to grab as much info as possible from them. Having worked in fraud for nearly 30 years, I’d say: - Think twice before handing over any personal details. If they’re legit, they won’t mind calling back later. - If you get rushed or feel something’s off (these scammers are well trained), just end the call. - Double-check info with family, friends, or your bank. - Make sure to report dodgy calls to Action Fraud, either online or by phone: ** www.actionfraud.police.uk ** 0300 123 2040 (Mon-Fri, 8am-8pm)
