Had a look at my Virgin phone statement and noticed a £4.97 fee linked to this number, stating it’s DIRECTORY ENQ. I’m the sole user of my Virgin line and never dialled this number. Virgin told me it’s a premium rate number so that’s why the cost appeared, and apparently it’s not their doing. Still, they kindly refunded me, cheers for that Virgin. But I’m worried - could my account have been compromised? How do you even go about reporting something this dodgy? Especially since this number’s promoted all over the country, supposedly through directory enq.

Our phone bill showed £50 for just a single call, and we're proper annoyed about it. If Virgin doesn't sort this out, we're thinking about taking it to the newspapers. It's just disgusting.

Just got a phone bill for 50 quid and honestly, have no clue where it even came from.

Got hit with a £59.39 bill for a 27 minute call to this number. Seems loads of Virgin customers are facing the same thing. Feels like Virgin's website got hacked and someone’s been adding calls onto our bills. Honestly, it’s got to be Virgin’s mess, can’t believe we’re all just imagining this!

I got hit with £27 for a call that lasted just 12 minutes! Absolutely livid about this and how the customer service handled it. I’m fuming and want my money returned, otherwise, I’m cancelling my subscription for good.

I've just noticed a £3.71 fee on my recent bill for a call made to 01181180000, a number I don't recognise, which worries me a bit. Seems like other Virgin customers have been posting about the same issue too.

Virgin just hit me with a £121 bill for roughly 20 calls to this number. The weird thing is, no one even picks up the landline here since we only have Virgin for our internet! Seriously feel like I’m being mugged off!

I’ve spotted this number pop up three times on my bill this month. No clue who or what it is. There’s charges of £5.85, £10.14 and £12.28. Stuff like this really makes me think about switching to a different provider.

I receved my bill from Virgin and there's a £5.85 charge for a call lasting two minutes which none of us at home actually made.

My mum is 84 and she’s been hit with a £25 charge for a call she never made! Tried calling Virgin but it was pointless. Someone really needs to own up to this, I’m not just gonna sit back and accept it. Properly fed up with Virgin now.

This number showed up on my phone bill but I’m sure I never called it.

Spotted this number showing up on my bill and decided to ring Virgin Media about it. They reckoned the number had definitely been dialled because it turned up on other peoples’ bills too. Virgin wouldn’t budge and kept saying it was a direct enquiry line and so the charges were pricey. In the end, I just blocked the number from my phone to be safe.

Got the same issue as loads of others here. This number showed up on our phone bill with a £16.56 charge for a 7-minute call to “directory enquiries” that we definitely didn’t make. Can’t believe they’re charging for something like this! I’m gonna ring Virgin tomorrow and let them know exactly what I think about this dodgy fee...

I just checked my Virgin bill and there's a charge for a call to 01181180000, lasted 2 minutes and cost me £5.85 excluding VAT. The thing is, I never dialled that number. Watch out for this, folks.

I got a bill from Virgin Media with a similar issue. It showed that I’d called direct enquiries on this number 01181180000, but I never use direct enquiries since they’re ridiculously pricey. I was about to blame one of my family members, so I rang the number to check who it was. But the number doesn’t actually exist! How can Virgin Media send me a bill for calls to a number that isn’t real? Curious, I looked up the number online to see which company it belonged to. There wasn’t any company name, but I found tons of complaints - mostly from Virgin Media customers having exactly the same problem. Loads of people are reporting this mysterious number showing up on their bills. It’s clear something’s not right here, probably some kind of scam. But why isn’t Virgin Media doing anything about it?
