I received a call that seemed to be from a furnishings shop or perhaps one of those catalogue retailers, something called 'Homebuy'. It appears someone I know has listed me as a character reference, which, as I gather, is quite the norm nowadays with credit retailers. The call was indeed from Homebuy, reaching out to check the reference over the phone. All in all, it felt completely secure!
