This number just rang me up claiming to be from SSE, but the details they had about my address were all wrong. They asked for my date of birth, when I moved in, my email, and even tried pushing for a direct debit setup. I asked why they didn’t already have that info on their system, and then told them I was hanging up because I didn’t believe it was actually SSE. The caller was quite polite, but something felt off. Just be cautious about what info you share if they ring you.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with SSE asking for my date of birth, said it was for security reasons. I only just moved and haven’t shared any details with an energy provider yet. When I told her that, she said she needed it to set up my account for future calls. I explained I was seeking energy advice, and then she got all pushy, saying “they’ll just send you bills after that.” I cut the call there since I couldn’t verify if it was legit. Definitely fishy behaviour.
