A lady rang me, saying she was representing a crime prevention group and was promoting their home security solutions. I politely declined!

I was waiting for a phone call from Bristol, so when it rang I picked up and said "hello". But the person on the other end just said "goodbye" and then the line started making weird beeping noises. I ended the call and looked it up here. Even though nothing useful was said, after seeing what others posted, I think this might be some kind of harassment.

Heads up, this is a TOTAL SCAM! The government’s been passing around your phone number and info to organised crime rings both here and abroad. Loads of people have reported losing huge sums of money to these nasty scams, especially during September. These scams are getting worse, so don’t ever hand over personal info or bank details to anyone. If you get a dodgy call, message or letter, make sure to report it to Action Fraud and post about it on social media. Getting the word out like this really helps stop more people from falling for it. I got a call from a woman who said she was from some crime prevention group. She began telling me all about a home security setup. But when I cut in to ask how much it would actually cost, she wouldn’t answer. I kept pushing, and then she got annoyed and just hung up on me!

Got a call today from someone claiming to be from elderly emergency support - turned out to be a total nuisance. Don’t trust these random calls at all!
