I received a rather dodgy phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, supposedly there to help me with a virus situation on my PC. Their accent raised a few red flags for me, so I promptly ended the conversation rather than take any further risks with my computer and router.

I called back and my call just got passed on to someone else. I only wanted to find out who it was, but I reckon it’s some dodgy overseas number or whatever. Didn’t hang about, just put the phone down quick. The codes looked local though, probably meant to trick you into picking up, especially around Christmas when folks are a bit more trusting. Got one call during the day and another later in the evening. No one asked or anything, just out of the blue.

So I came across this gatesway system thing that’s meant to be some kind of auto-pilot program, and they say it was created by the big brain behind Microsoft, Bill Gates. But honestly, that’s a load of rubbish. The start of their promo video is just a rip-off from a TED talk. Can’t trust a word of it.

Please do yourself a favour and don’t pick up, I foolishly did. Some bloke kept firing questions about washing machines, life stuff, donations to charities and life insurance. Even after saying no to everything, he still went on about how I’d get calls in the next week. At the end there was this recorded voice saying thanks and that the companies would be in touch within 7 days! Proper scammy lot, best to block these sneaky muppets.
