Just another annoying call!5 yearsAnswered the call and immediately put the phone down.5 yearsSo I got a call from someone claiming I’d been in a car crash. I grabbed all their info, played along long enough to find out their name and the firm they said they were from, then reported them to Ofcom for dodgy and unsolicited calls. If it’s a UK landline, there’s usually an address tied to it which Ofcom can track. For genuine UK companies, Ofcom might actually take action and slap a fine on them. But if it’s an overseas call centre, your best bet is just blocking unknown numbers. You can also mess with them a bit - like telling them it’s actually them who’s had an accident and asking for their bank details, or just demanding to know what they’re wearing. Or, I just straight up tell them to shove off, especially when they try to sound all hurt or offended! If the call is dead silent, I’ll leave it open and blast awful karaoke or my least favourite tunes down the line. Ultimately, don’t just sit there annoyed - take control and have a bit of fun with it!OfcomUK5 yearsGot a recorded call telling me my Amazon Prime was compromised or something like that.
