I’ve received a similar email as well-actually, two of them! One was sent by a chap named Walter Mason, and the other from a lady called Sheila Lawson. Both messages claimed that I’d bought Norton for £699. Naturally, I took a peek at my PayPal account and found nada. I also did my homework on PayPal’s legitimate email address, which I discovered ends in .com, not .co.uk. Upon searching for the phone number, I stumbled upon this site that suggested it could be a scam. It’s crucial to be vigilant these days and thoroughly investigate before falling prey to such scams.

I can assure you, this number is anything but trustworthy! It reeks of malicious intent, and I strongly advise against clicking on any links that might come via email. I recently got a rather dubious message claiming to be from eBay, stating that I’d purchased something via my PayPal account for a staggering £699.00. It urged me to make the payment and provided a number to ring if I hadn’t placed the order, which, interestingly enough, was linked to Bristol.
I don’t even possess a PayPal account; my wife has unfortunately fallen victim to scams with it on several occasions, prompting us to steer clear of it for online transactions quite some time ago. Here’s the so-called message I received:

''Message from MICHAEL FOLEY:
Your РayРal аccount hаs been used to buy NORTON LIFE LOCK for £699.99. If this wasn’t you, please call our Toll-Free number +𝟒𝟒 117 471 5664.''

I’ve flagged this email as a scam. Stay vigilant, everyone!

Received a dodgy request for funds that pretended to be from PayPal. It was linked to an account I haven’t touched in ages. Just goes to show, you can’t be too careful with these things!

I had a similar encounter myself. When I probed about why PayPal was supposedly based in London rather than Bristol, where the call originated, and pressed him further about the company he represented, he abruptly ended the call. Quite peculiar, if you ask me!
