So, I got a phone call from someone claiming to be from Action Aid, and I honestly think it was legit. They wanted to talk to a family member who used to donate but has since died. They were really polite and said sorry about the mix-up and promised they wouldn’t call again.

I got a call from 01174634186 today around 5.30pm on Thursday, and actually, it rang earlier this week on Monday too. I never pick up numbers I don’t recognise. The caller ID showed Bristol, but I’ve no contacts there. I let it go to voicemail, where my recorded message asks callers to leave a message since I don’t answer unknowns. They didn’t leave anything. I’m gonna block this number now and report it as annoying because it’s rung me twice without any message.

I wouldn’t exactly call this a “charity scam.” Basically, it’s a third-party ringin’ you up for a charity you’ve already given to. It’s pretty irritating and kinda pushes the limits on being proper, but it’s not really a scam. The bloke on the phone went through his entire script and even said straight up that he gets paid for it. He did mention the firm he’s working through, which is hired by the charity, but I didn’t catch the name.
