Somebody called saying they were from Vodafone with a supposed 30% off deal on my phone lines. I didn’t buy any of it and just ended the call!

This was definitely a call centre, or at least someone pretending to be one with a lot of noise in the background. The call quality was really bad, probably from abroad, and the guy’s English was awful - he couldn’t even follow what I was saying. He claimed he was calling from Carphone Warehouse, but I told him if that was true, he’d know I’m signed up with the TPS, and that calling me could land them a £5,000 fine. I mentioned I’d be reporting them to the Telephone Preference Service, but he clearly had no clue what I meant, so definitely not a proper company. At least I wasted some of their time so they couldn’t bother someone else. I’ve had about six calls like this today, all from different numbers, but it seems like the same person pretending to be from Carphone Warehouse. Not very clever either, since he couldn’t keep track of who he’d called or what he’d said.
