I recently received a rather suspicious recorded call from 01174095057 claiming that £600 had been withdrawn from my account overseas. Acting swiftly, I blocked the number and alerted my bank to the situation. They confirmed that it’s a definite scam. I feel I did the proper thing and sincerely hope this serves as a warning to others about those nefarious scam artists.

Some random number called our house at 7.55am yesterday, way before our alarm even went off - and no one said a word on the other end! I’m thinking of muting all sounds on the landline and letting the few people who matter know not to bother ringing it anymore. Guess we’ll just stick to my hubby's old-school “big brick” phone instead!!!

The other day, on a rather uneventful Sunday, my grandmother received a call from a chap named Steve. He introduced himself as being with Virgin Media. Naturally, my nan informed him that she didn't have any services with Virgin and that her loyalties lay with Sky and NowTV. To her surprise, he abruptly flipped the script and said, "Oh yes, of course, that as well!" At this point, my grandma was getting quite irked, so she handed the phone over to my mum, who is well over 50, as he claimed to represent BT Openreach. It was perplexing how he kept changing his story! He even urged my mum to download Teamspeak and bizarrely asked for her bank details promising to deposit £240 into her account. Clearly a scam, as we all know BT Openreach doesn’t process refunds. Wisely, my mum ended the call, jotted down the number, and upon my suggestion, I did a quick search, only to find that it was tied to a bunch of scammers operating out of Bristol.

Then they called again (13:43) from the exact same number, this time saying they were with Virgin Media about my internet. Definitely seemed like a scam so I just hung up again.

I got a call from this number on my home phone at 8:48 this morning. They didn’t leave any message. I don’t know the number at all. Feels like it might be a scam. I looked it up on ‘Who Called Me?’ and there’s plenty of proof showing it’s dodgy. Scammers, really. Fingers crossed they get some proper, honest work soon.

Got a call from an Asian guy claiming he was from Virgin, saying there’d been some suspicious activity on our broadband. He asked me to open the Play Store and look for an app or something. His accent was really thick and I couldn’t catch what he was saying properly, so I told him that. He said he’d have someone else call me instead. I quickly looked up the number here and yep... total scam. I’ve only had this number a few months ‘cos of all the scam calls already, and yet somehow they’ve still found it. No idea how, I’ve only given it out to family and a few close mates.

Absolute scammers. I’m thinking of reporting this number like someone mentioned earlier today. Just a heads up, never ring back a number you don’t know. It’s asking for trouble and could land you in hot water. Plus, some of these dodgy calls from abroad use fake numbers which might actually belong to a completely innocent person’s home. Got a call from someone saying they were a ‘Virgin Media Tech’ claiming my router was acting up. They kept asking stuff like “What colour light do you see? Is it steady?” Then said it should be flashing, so obviously there’s a problem. After going back and forth - and them sounding a bit annoyed - I realised they just wanted me to install some remote control app. I hung up pretty quick, but felt like a clueless old bloke for a good ten minutes. Hope I wasted their time a bit!

Both callers had south asian accents, first a woman then a guy. When I asked the bloke for the name on my account, he actually got pretty annoyed which made me laugh. Got a call from someone in India, second time in just an hour. I asked them to tell me the last four digits of my account number. They guessed but only got three digits wrong. Then I asked for the IP address they supposedly were using. As expected, they couldn’t provide that. Total #### con artists.

Someone rang me claiming to be from my internet provider, saying there was some weird activity on my connection. The person had an accent that sounded Asian. I ended the call and got in touch with my ISP myself. They had no clue about any of this.

THEY SAID IT WAS VIRGIN MEDIA CALLING ABOUT MY INTERNET. WHEN I TOLD THEM I HAD NO ISSUES, THEY JUST HUNG UP ON ME.

Got a call from an Asian lady claiming to be from Amazon, saying I’d bought something for £49.99 (looks like they’re working for loads of firms judging by the other comments!). I told her to quit wasting my time and hers with these dodgy calls, then she just hung up suddenly. I've blocked the number now, but I’m sure they’ll ring again soon from another fake number.

Got a call from someone saying they were Virgin Media tech support. They told me some stranger was using my internet and that my service would be stopped the next day. This number has been ringing me loads lately, with whoever on the line pretending to be from Virgin Media. They say there’s some issue with my broadband or that someone’s hacked into my Wi-Fi, but none of that is right. Sometimes a bloke answers, other times it’s a woman, and both use different names. Both have quite strong Asian accents. It’s clear it’s just the same two people switching it up, and of course, it’s all a scam.

The woman claimed she was ringing from Virgin and mentioned they were checking the broadband speed. She asked me what colour my light was when I was banned, and I replied amber. Then she inquired if I had an Android or an iPhone. After I told her, she told me to open my phone and google www.speedtest.net. She told me to head to the speed test part, but at that point, I figured it had to be a scam. This definitely needs to end.
