They called saying they were from car phone warehouse about my mobile contract. I’ve never even been with car phone warehouse before.

Got a call from an Indian guy asking to speak with the business owner. When I said I wasn't running a business, he started pushing a mobile sim deal on me. I then told him I work at EE, and he tried to pass me onto some other department. Ended the call and blocked the number straight away!

When I switched my phone back on after a quick snooze yesterday, the 28th of September, I noticed a missed call from this number.

They never pick up when you ring, and then after about five minutes, they just hang up. What a bunch of muppets!

Got a phone with call guardian from Argos and it’s been top notch. If the scammers can’t follow the set steps call guardian wants, your phone won’t ring at all. So all those calls from hidden or fake numbers which used to be around 16 a day have totally stopped. Brilliant stuff!

Sounds like it might be some dodgy benefits scam?

This morning, just after half past ten, a man with a foreign accent inquired whether I received pension credit. Quite cheeky, if you ask me! I’m enrolled in the Telephone Preference Service and even have a call-blocking device, yet these nuisances still manage to slip through the cracks. It’s utterly infuriating!

I got caller ID and wouldnt be without it now, if the number aint saved on my phone I just dont pick up. They can leave a voicemail, I keep my answerphone on all the time but if I wanna I can still get the call. Feel bad for older folks tho, many dont have this tech. Try saying “yo” instead of hello when you answer, stops those automatic messages from starting. Even got a couple of calls on a Sunday today, unreal!

Got a call from an Asian bloke, there's this annoying weird office noise in the back, sounded dodgy. He kept going on about pension and credits or something, so I just didn’t bother and ended the call. Blocked the number straight away.

I rang back since I missed the call earlier. There was no intro or company name, just a really crackly American voice saying my call would be passed to an agent soon. After waiting 2 minutes with noone coming on, I gave up and hung up.

Said they could assist with heating bills if you get any kind of benefits. Hung up as soon as I told them I don’t get any benefits. Got loads of automated calls about this, plus a letter asking the same stuff.

Heads up, this is some kinda American company trying to blag info off you. At first I thought it was the DWP WCA calling, but then I got suspicious cos they got my name wrong. These lot must have nicked my details from a hacked DWP or WCA database as they knew my NI number and DOB, which really riled me up. The guy on the phone just laughed when I confronted him. This isn’t pension credit or any legit DWP outfit, they’ve obviously stolen details from somewhere. And of course, DWP wouldn’t own up if their system got hacked, would they?
