Got a call today from someone claiming there was a hack attempt on my Amazon account. I told them I don’t even have an Amazon account and ended the call. Checked this site afterwards and saw loads of others had flagged it as a scam too. What bugs me is when I looked up the number on ringback, it seemed like a genuine phone number, so why hasn’t the Fraud Squad looked into it yet?

Got a call from this number on Jan 15th, and honestly it felt like a really rubbish scam. The bloke had a thick Asian accent so I couldn’t understand everything he said. I caught words like ‘Amazon’ and ‘security’, plus there was that awkward pause before he started talking which always sets alarm bells ringing. Got a call out of the blue from a bloke with a South Asian accent. His English was really bad, almost impossible to understand. Said his name was ‘John’ - bit of a laugh, that. I told him flat out he was lying, he wasn’t from Amazon and that ‘John’ was definitely not his real name. Then, he just hung up on me! Didn’t even try to argue. Classic scammers from South Asia trying to rip you off. Best thing? Just ignore, hang up and block.

Got a call from a woman with a foreign accent claiming she was from Amazon. She said someone tried to purchase an iPhone using my account and even told me a name, asking if I recognised it. Then she told me to get on my computer and check my emails right away. When I told her I didn’t have a computer, she just ended the call.

Earlier today, I received a call from a gentleman with an Asian accent on my landline. He introduced himself as a representative from Amazon, informing me of an attempted purchase using my bank information worth more than £400.00. He kindly asked me to review my emails for further information. Doubtful of the authenticity of the call, I inquired if this was a scam. To reassure me, he responded, "No indeed, I am sincerely reaching out to inform you about this unauthorized use of your bank details." Curious about my access to emails, he inquired if I used a computer or phone. Upon mentioning that I utilized my phone since I do not have a computer, the caller abruptly hung up...clearly a scam!

Got a call from someone saying they were from Amazon about an iPhone bought on my account and wanted me to change my Amazon password. Luckily my wife spotted it was a scam straight away. Just a heads up, be careful out there.

I got a call from a woman saying someone tried to make an unauthorised purchase on my Amazon account early this morning around 8. I didn't share any personal information or account details with her. Afterwards, I checked with Amazon and they told me there was no unusual activity at all on my account.

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent at 10.02am on the 5th of January. He said someone had been on my Amazon account last night and spent £400. Told me they'd sent an email and asked if I’d seen it, saying I needed to check or my account would get blocked. I just hung up straight away.

Got a call this morning around 10:41 from a woman with an Asian accent. She claimed there was some activity on my Amazon account that involved buying something. She asked if I was aware of it, and I said no. Then she mentioned a Mr something-or-other trying to buy a smartphone, which I didn’t know about either. She wanted me to check my emails on my laptop while she stayed on the line, but I just politely declined and ended the call.

Got a call from an Asian guy saying someone had hacked my mum’s Amazon account. I told him she doesn’t even have one. When he asked if she had a computer, I said no, and he went, “No computer in 2021?” then shockingly said, “I wish you’d die.” Totally appalled and furious.

Got the same call about a smart phone, they wanted my delivery address. When I asked why, I told them I’d come round and give them a good kick up the backside. She wouldn't give me her details, so I asked for her address to return the favour - then the line just went dead!!!

Today, I received a call from +441174057152 from a gentleman of Indian/Asian descent. He claimed to be a representative from Amazon and informed me that there was a phone purchase made on my account. He requested me to check my computer. Sensing something suspicious, I calmly explained that I preferred to contact Amazon directly. When I inquired about his name, he curiously asked why I needed it. Without hesitation, I ended the call and proceeded to verify my account, assuring myself that everything was in order. It is evident that this phone call was undoubtedly a fraudulent attempt.

Called this number a few times before, but today it was completely silent. Before, it was a woman speaking with an Asian accent, the English was pretty rough and she was saying something about Amazon, which was hard to make out. For a second I wanted to mess with them using a tuning fork to shake their phone or something, but I quickly dropped the idea! What really gets me is that the officials must be aware of these calls, yet they never seem to take any action. It's so frustrating.

I received a rather curious phone call from someone purporting to be from Amazon, insisting that there had been an attempt to purchase an iPhone using my account. When I mentioned that my number is actually a work line and isn't linked to my Amazon account in any way, they abruptly ended the call. Considering this is a vicarage, we only ever receive calls for church matters, which makes it all the more suspicious!

Got a call from someone who said they were Ali at Amazon Security. Felt a bit dodgy straight away, so I asked why Amazon was even ringing me. As soon as I asked, they just cut the call. Seemed super fishy to me.
