Sounds like one of those bogus debt help firms to me.

Received a call about some debts they claimed I owed, even though I don’t have any. They said my number was listed on a government site for unpaid debts and offered to clear them for me. I quickly told them I wasn’t falling for it and that I’d report them to Ofcom. Don’t let these lot fool you - they pretend to be shocked you don’t owe anything.

My mum, who’s quite elderly, got a ring from this number and the bloke on the phone had a heavy accent and his English was really poor. He told her she was involved in some fraud case. Mum was completely scared stiff. She’s 80 and has never done anything dodgy in her life, so to hear that was terrifying for her. She honestly thought the police might turn up at her house any second. I’m relieved she managed to hang up before things got worse. More effort really needs to go into stopping these scammers from their nonsense. It’s heartbreaking to see how much stress it causes older people! Honestly, if anyone else gets a call from this number, just ignore it and share your experience here so more folks know it’s a con. I’m still trying to calm my mum down but she’s pretty rattled by the whole thing.

Think it was a scam, pretty sly if you ask me. Tried to get in touch again but no luck.

Got a call from this number on Saturday the 22nd around 10:15am. The bloke said he was from some finance investigation firm and wanted to chat about debts I supposedly owe (which isn’t true - I don’t have any). I told him straight up I thought it was a scam and just hung up.
