I received a call from an unrecognised mobile number earlier and decided to answer it. After greeting a few times, I was met with nothing but silence. Shortly after, I got a text from the same number claiming to be a Welfare and Engagement Officer with Bristol City Council, urging me to ring a local 0117 number. I suspect they reached out because I’ve just been diagnosed with COVID-19. I called the provided number, and indeed it appeared to be the council. They informed me that I was first in line, but there was a lengthy wait of over 15 minutes, so I decided to cut my losses and hang up.
