I'd say this sounds like a total scam. I was browsing places to stay on Booking.com, and I chose not to book a certain place in Bristol. Ever since, I've been flooded with emails claiming to be confirmations, receipts, and welcome messages for a booking I never made. What tipped me off was that the last four numbers on the receipt email didn't match any of my cards. Turns out, the phone number given for the place I'm supposedly booked at is actually this number.
