Definitely a scam. They list cars way too cheap on Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace but you never get to see them. They ask for payment upfront, which is a huge red flag. When I asked why the ad said the car was in Leicester but he claimed it was actually in Aberdeen, the bloke got quite rude and abruptly ended the call. Avoid these dodgy ads!

I put up an ad on Gumtree and barely a few minutes passed before I had a call from someone with a really noticeable accent asking about some accident. Pretty obvious they’re just collecting phone numbers off Gumtree.

Got a call from some bloke from India just minutes after I put up a Gumtree ad about a crash I supposedly had last year (which I definitely never did!). The guy was proper rude and then just cut me off when I tried to order a chicken madras, egg fried rice and Bombay potatoes, with a side of poppadoms. Strange call!

I just got a call from this number saying I was involved in a car crash. Thing is, I haven’t been in any accident at all, so I think it’s some kind of mistake or maybe a scam. It was pretty confusing and a bit annoying having to explain that I wasn’t involved. Would recommend being careful if you get a call like this!

Don't pick up 01173184449, it's just some spam call from an Asian bloke claiming you've had a car crash. When we played along and said the only accident was in my fella's trousers, he ended up calling him all sorts of names and said he was wasting his time! Proper funny that. Hahaha!

So, this number just called me out of the blue, and I reckon it’s linked to the ad I put up on Gumtree not long ago, same as loads of others. The call quality was awful, sounded nothing like a proper UK line. How do these scammers even manage to fake a number that ain't theirs? Got a call just a couple of mins after I put up my ad on Gumtree, sounded like it was from some Asian call centre. They claimed to be with the Motor Insurance Bureau, but it smelt like a total scam to me!

‭0117 318 4449‬ rang me again, but I didn't pick up since I had already marked them as suspicious. They've called me twice now after I placed ads on Gumtree, and both times it was within half an hour. I’ve lodged a complaint with fraud action and also told the TPS about this phone scam.
