I got a call about insurance for my washing machine and I told them my machine's as old as me, haha, and that I already bought a new one. They kept going on like I hadn’t said anything, so I just ended the call. Luckily, they haven’t phoned back since.

I never bother with washing machine insurance - I reckon it’s cheaper to just put aside the money and replace the machine every few years instead. If you ever pick up one of these calls, just say you’re living in a care home and the laundry’s all done for you. Or, better yet, say you’re in your sixties or seventies and start rambling that their voice sounds like your son or daughter, asking if they’re related. They usually hang up pretty sharpish, and sometimes they might even tag your number as a dead end. :)

I got a call from Domestic Appliances saying my warranty on a Zanussi washing machine had run out. I knew straight away how they got that info because a couple of days ago I did a survey and mentioned I had a Zanussi washer to a guy with an accent. I never said how old it was, but somehow they passed my details to these people. My machine is only four weeks old! When I told the caller this, he said sorry and promised to remove me from their list. But honestly, I doubt it'll stop these annoying spam calls from coming through.
