5 yearsJust a little while ago, I got calls from two blokes who said their names were Nick and Calvin, claiming they worked for Octopus Energy. It set off alarm bells when Nick told me he could slash my energy bill from over £100 a month down to just £44. He mentioned electricity rates of 16.5p per KWh and gas at 3.32p per KWh. Since I find these calls a bit amusing, I let him go on. Nick was pretty insistent that I should ring him back on 0141 367 9893 if I wanted more info, saying I was now a “priority customer”. Then he asked for my bank details but when I said no, he actually went off to find his manager, instead of just putting me through. While he was away, I quickly looked up the number online and found loads of people reporting it as a nuisance. When Calvin turned up, I mentioned it to him but he just brushed it off. He again asked for my account number and sort code, but I refused. I ended up keeping the conversation going for about 15 minutes before emailing [email protected]NickCalvinOctopus Energy5 yearsI got two calls today from someone saying they were with EDF Energy. They even knew my full address and postcode, which seemed odd. The person claimed they could switch me to a cheaper tariff. I mentioned I’m already with EDF, so then they asked me to log into my online account and read out my current tariff. I said if he really worked for EDF, he should have that info already. Didn’t trust it, so I ended the call and blocked the number right away.EDF EnergyEDF5 yearsThey said they were from British Gas initially, but when I asked them more about it, suddenly they started saying UK Energy Tarriff instead. Bit fishy if you ask me.British Gas6 yearsLoads of different numbers have been ringing me trying to get hold of Elaine, even though I've said I'm not her and asked them to stop calling.
