01172442005 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 01172442005 👆 is reported as a persistent scam involving automated calls impersonating a bank's fraud or security department, warning about fraudulent transactions - typically a £300 Amazon charge and a larger international money transfer. Callers do not specify which bank and prompt recipients to press numbers to speak with an agent, often followed by attempts to extract personal or financial information. The majority of users recognise these calls as fraudulent, advise immediate disconnection without interaction, and recommend blocking the number. Victims note the calls sometimes target vulnerable individuals and use multiple spoofed or rotating numbers, complicating prevention. Reporting such incidents to official fraud authorities and contacting MPs to advocate for better caller identification technology is encouraged to help curb these ongoing nuisance calls.

I received a dodgy call today, insisting that my card had been compromised, and they prompted me to press either 1 or 2 for further details. There was no mention of which bank was supposedly contacting me, just a pre-recorded voice rambling on. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

This seems like one of those bank scams. Got two calls from this number - one about two weeks back and another just today. The voice was a pre-recorded female who never actually said which company she was calling from. They mentioned something about a £300 Amazon payment and an international transfer of around £1,500. I just ended the call straight away.

Got a silent call today - looks like the scam robocall machine was dialing so quickly the message couldn't even play properly. From what I've seen in other comments and a call I got about half an hour ago, it was probably one of those fake bank alerts saying something like 'You've got a £300 payment from Amazon and £1100 sent through some foreign money transfer site you've never heard of'.

I received a rather suspicious phone call on Wednesday morning at 11:38. The caller left a message about a supposed money transfer that was apparently linked to my unspecified bank account and offered two options to choose from by pressing certain keys. Later on that day, at 3:19 PM, I got another call from the number 00491275445163, which claimed that there was a £300 transaction with Amazon, whilst also referencing a previous transaction of £1,100. There was yet another call at 1:03 PM from 00491275489991, but they didn’t leave any message. I’m inclined to regard all of these calls as potentially dodgy and dangerous scams. Be cautious!

Got a recorded call that started with "This is your bank security" then went on about two transactions on my account or something. Total scam, really dodgy. Don't even think about pressing any buttons, just end the call straight away.

Got a call claiming to be from bank security saying my card was used fraudulently twice today. They didn’t mention the bank or which card either. Yeah right, it hasn’t happened at all.

Received a dubious phone call today, asserting there had been some sort of compromise with my credit card. Definitely felt like a scam!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from (unnamed) bank about unusual charges on my card - something like £300 for Amazon and £1000 to some overseas company. The recording said it was their security team checking because I'd supposedly never made those transactions. They told me to press 1 to cancel the payments or 2 to talk to an advisor. I didn't risk it and just ended the call straight away.

Got a call saying there’s been some dodgy use of my card but they didn’t bother mentioning which one. They talked about one charge to Amazon and another big one for £1000 but no details. Told me to press one to stop the payments or whatever. Then just dropped the call. Same nonsense as always.

At 08:38 on the 21st of April 2022, I received a rather automated phone call concerning 'some activity on my Amazon account'-funnily enough, they weren't wrong about my Amazon usage! However, they mentioned 'your credit card' without actually specifying which one, clearly because they don’t have access to my card information. I attempted to hang on to connect with an actual person but after enduring a minute of nothing but silence, I decided it wasn't worth my time any longer.

Got a robocall claiming to be from the "Bank Fraud Squad" saying I’d somehow been charged £300 by Amazon and over £1000 by some other company I didn’t catch. Then it switched to a bloke with a thick Indian accent who asked for my name. I gave him Michael Loony, a cheeky spin on Mickey Rooney. He said he’d found my info and repeated the charges, asking if I’d authorised them. Next, he wanted to know my last card payment, so I explained who Mickey Rooney was - and guess what, the call got cut off! Well, at least it gave me a good laugh for nearly five minutes.
