01172300775 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 01172300775 👆 is reported as a persistent PPI-related scam involving calls from individuals using names like Sam, Jennifer, Rosie, and others, often with foreign accents, claiming callers are owed thousands of pounds. They mention banks such as Yorkshire Bank, Lloyds, Barclays, and Vanquis, and insist payments will be split between cheque and cash, sometimes threatening home visits. The callers provide reference and claim ID numbers, urging recipients to call a specific Bristol-based number to arrange payments, which is advised against as it may incur premium call charges or lead to identity theft. Many targets note the scammers’ knowledge of personal details, but no genuine claims or payments exist. Recipients are strongly cautioned not to engage, share bank details, or pay fees.

I got a call from a woman named Anna who basically gave me the exact same spiel and figures. When I rang her number back, it just wouldn’t connect - no shock there. Still a bit suspicious, I dialled the other number she gave me, but some bloke just answered with a "yeah, hello" and I ended the call right away.

I got a phone call from someone named Sam, who said they had a message for Mr Millington. This isn’t the first time this has happened, though there’s definitely no Mr Millington living here! The message was about some money, £2439 apparently owed by Yorkshire Bank, and they wanted me to call back on 01172300775. I’m not bothering to return the call, and I’d tell anyone else not to bother either.

Today, 05/06/18, Edinburgh. I had a very similar call. Told the bloke "something feels off." Asked him to give me more details. He said his name was Sam from the Information Department, extension 219. Same amounts mentioned - £2,439 cheque and £1,200 cash, supposedly about some PPI refund. He told me to ring the Accounts Department on 01172300775 to sort out payment. When you call, ask for Accounts and give them Ref No. 292135 and Claim ID CBC6284. I ended the conversation by telling him, “This doesn’t add up, banks don’t deal with cash payments to third parties like this!” But said I’ll double-check with my own bank first.

Just got a call today from a bloke with a strange accent who said his name was Peter and called from this number. He claimed I was due some money back from my bank, saying it’d be paid in two instalments. He gave me the name of a company, a reference number, and another contact number, but when I asked him how he knew about the money I’m supposedly owed, he couldn’t give a straight answer - just kept repeating the same stuff. I figured right away it was a dodgy scam, but sadly loads of people might get caught out because there’s so many companies these days promising payouts for things like PPI claims, and it’s hard to tell which ones are genuine.

Yesterday, my husband answered a call from 01172300775 while I was out. The caller claimed to be from a bank and asked him to ring Ally on that number and request extension 806. I did call back but the person on the line was talking far too quickly for me to catch everything. They said they’d transfer me to extension 806, then the phone just went dead. I ended up hanging up.

Got a call from Ally about owing £3639.00 and needing a part payment by cheque and cash. They gave me a reference number for the transaction. Definitely a scam.

Got a call out of the blue saying I owed £3,639.00 with some random reference numbers. Being silly, I phoned them back. They quickly said it was an error. Thank god I’m still thinking straight!

Got a call moments ago, they mentioned something about £3,639.00 and a few reference numbers. I idiotically rang them back, only to be told it was all a mix-up. Thankfully, my money’s still all there, safe and sound!

Today, I got a call from someone named Michael, and apparently Rosie’s meant to ring me back. They mentioned a sum of £3639, saying £2400 would be by cheque and the rest in cash. At the moment, I’m just waiting for the accounts team to get back to me. Honestly, I’m really glad I saw the comments here beforehand. Not that I was about to hand over any info anyway, so let’s see what happens next!

I got a call from someone who said they were 'Sam' from Charge Back Claims (number not shared). The story was pretty much the same but with small changes. This time, it was about Barclays PPI and apparently I owed £3,639 which had to be paid by cash or cheque. They told me to ring back, ask for 'accounts' and give them the reference and ID they mentioned. I’m pretty sure it’s a scam and could be an attempt at stealing my identity, so I’m just going to ignore it!

I got a really quiet call from someone called David, claiming I was owed £2400 for bank charges. I didn’t bother calling back because I had already dealt with a proper company and got letters from both them and the bank saying my claim was unsuccessful. Luckily, my phone has a call blocker and I let it go to voicemail. They did sound convincing at first, but something felt off since it wasn’t the company I had contacted before. Just a heads up, this looks like a scam. They might have some info about you, but don’t fall for it.

No doubt in my mind, this is definitely one of those PPI scam calls.

Yeah, it’s just like the others, a total con. They ask for payments in parts adding up to £3369, then suddenly they want a fee from you - which you have to pay. After that, they ask for your bank info, saying you’ve got to transfer a bit of money so they can “verify” the payment and then send the money back. Spoiler: there’s no cash coming back. The trick is they either take that fee upfront or get you to move money which disappears forever. They might say their names are Rosie or Sam, but really they’re based in Lahore, Pakistan, and somehow connected to a deserted office number in Bristol. Probably those numbers you call back on are premium lines, so they rake in like £10 just if you ring them back. Best advice - steer clear, never ring back, don’t send any fees, and keep your bank details to yourself.

Just like the person who posted anonymously about three weeks back, I went through the exact same thing.

I got a call from a bloke named Sam, who said he was from Charge Back Claims Ltd, saying I was owed £3600 for a PPI claim I'd never put in. He told me they were based at 137 Finchley Road, London, but the number he phoned from was actually a Bristol one. When I asked for his surname, he dodged it. He gave me a claim number and a callback reference but then told me not to mention any details he’d shared if I rang back, which seemed fishy to me.

Hi, I’m Stephen Fraser, and I went through exactly the same thing Andrew Parkinson mentioned - same figures and payment breakdown too. They said they wanted to come round to my home address to verify who I was, but as soon as I said no, they quickly ended the call. Can anyone tell me what kind of scam this might be?

Got a call from someone named Ellie about a PPI scam, claiming that the partial payment was made by cheque and cash!

I got a call about a PPI refund and they said they'd send someone round with the money in cash. Then they hit me with a charge of 11% which I didn’t expect. What do I do now? Help!

I got a call from Charge Back Claims saying that a previous claim I had with Barclays, which was rejected, was now gonna be paid. They told me to ring 0117 2300775 and ask for the accounts department. Something felt off about it especially when they said part of the payment would be in cash, so I didn’t bother calling them back. Definitely sounds like a scam to me.

I'm Andrew Parkinson. I got a call from someone called Rosie - definitely not British - who said I'd got £3639 in PPI compensation, which I've never actually applied for. She told me I'd be sent £1200 in cash straight to my home, and the rest, £2439, would come as a cheque. She gave me some kind of reference and claim number. Pretty sure the call was from Bristol.

Got a call from an 020 code saying I’d bagged some PPI compensation. Felt a bit iffy when they said they’d send some money by cheque and the rest in cash! They wanted me to ring back on 0117 230 0775. They sure shared loads of info though.
