2 yearsDefinately a scam, watch out!2 yearsTotal scammers, watch out!3 yearsWhat a load of nonsense! I’ve just had an email purporting to be from a dodgy version of PayPal, claiming they required my banking information to verify a supposed purchase of a camera gadget via my PayPal account. Clearly, it’s a scam!PayPal4 yearsHere’s how you can get in touch with the cyber crime police to report fraud. If those dodgy scams, which prey on vulnerable people and annoy the rest of us, don’t get reported, the police won’t be able to do much about them. I once emailed one of those scam messages to this address: '[email protected]' and got a reply with some stats. They told me they’d dealt with around 15 million scam attempts and took down 105,000 scams spanning over 192,000 URLs since the setup. Makes you wonder how many more they could tackle if everyone reported every scam they get.4 yearsIn the past couple of days, I've seen this number linked to a couple of bogus emails, one supposedly from Amazon and the other claiming to be from Paypal.PayPalAmazon4 yearsReceived a dodgy email claiming to be from Amazon, featuring the number [+116-504-7374], stating I’d supposedly bought a £500 iPhone. It feels a bit dodgy, so best to steer clear!Amazon4 yearsI received yet another email purporting to confirm an order for three Minolta 20.0 Megapixel Bridge Cameras, priced at £129.99 each, supposedly from Target Inc. through PayPal. Oddly enough, it lacks any hyperlinks and simply provides a contact number in Leicester. Be wary of the con they might try to pull if you decide to ring them. Just take a look at the earlier post where someone said, “I called them up and acted as if I was falling for their ruse.”Target Inc.PayPal.Leicester4 yearsI've encountered a couple of these flimsy scam emails already today, so do take heed and don't fall for it! I’ve noticed a charge for three cameras appearing on my PayPal account as well. Quite alarming!PayPal4 yearsGot a dodgy call saying I’d bought three cameras from PayPal. Total scam, watch out!4 yearsJust like many have said, it’s a scam. They don’t actually ring you up first. Instead, you get an email with a receipt showing a phone number and you’re tricked into calling them because it looks like you bought something you actually didn’t. The aim is to get your bank info and empty your account. Seriously, don’t ring them back. Avoid it completely.4 yearsReceived a couple of emails today featuring this number. One purported to be from "PãyPãl" (with those peculiar characters), and the other was associated with "Target." It’s clearly a scam; they even falsely state that the number is "toll free," which it certainly isn't. If you give them a call, they'll claim they're attempting to arrange a refund for you, but in reality, it's just a scheme to clear out your entire account.4 yearsI feel the same way. I'm a bit wary about whether this number redirects to a premium line. Best to steer clear, I reckon.4 yearsIt seems I've somehow ended up purchasing a Minolta camera-twice, mind you-through PayPal. They sounded really convincing and kept pushing me to verify my details, but I knew it was dodgy. Dodgy scammers trying to get your info through fake PayPal calls, watch out!PayPal4 yearsSo, I just noticed a weird charge of £229.99 on my account for a Minolta 20.0 Megapixel Bridge Camera I never bought - looks like some kind of PayPal scam. Really strange cause I have no idea where it came from!4 yearsI got this spam email about a PayPal buy that wasn't real, saying I purchased a camera for more than £200.4 yearsI didn't actually get a call, but I was inundated with a dodgy email purporting to be about a camera purchase from PayPal. It didn’t contain any links, just this phone number as the focus of the scam.PayPal4 yearsReceived an email from this number rather than a phone call. They claim to be associated with Target Inc regarding a camera purchase I made through PayPal!Target IncPayPal4 yearsI've received an email stating that I've made a purchase via PayPal, yet it only includes my email and no other information. Quite suspicious, I must say!PayPal4 yearsLike many before me, I was also targeted by a fraudulent email claiming to confirm a non-existent order, complete with this number asking me to ring for a so-called ‘refund’. They claim to represent Target Inc in relation to a camera purchase made through PayPal.Target IncPayPal4 yearsJust like many others, I got an email on the 19th of December regarding this number for "inquiries." It’s yet another scam involving PayPal.PayPal4 yearsI echo the sentiments of many here. I decided to give them a ring and let them know that I’m a practicing witch, and I’ve now placed a little hex on him-let's just say he might have some unfortunate happenings with his manhood soon! It’s painfully obvious they originate from somewhere like Mumbai; I can definitely place that accent. So, whatever you do, steer clear of clicking on anything they might send your way. I mean, why not pick up the phone and give them a taste of our discontent? A bit of good-natured mockery and a solid dose of invective might just get through to them. If we all took this approach, perhaps they’d finally grasp the magnitude of our frustration. A steady stream of abuse could very well make them reconsider their career path!Mumbai4 yearsI’m in the same boat. Looking to buy a camera from Target using PayPal.Target4 yearsLike many before me, I've discovered a notification indicating that there are three cameras bought using my PayPal account.PayPal4 yearsI just received a similar one moments ago.4 yearsI never received a call, but I did get a dodgy email regarding a so-called PayPal transaction for more than £200. Strangely enough, there were no clickable links included-just this phone number they expect me to ring to sort out a refund. Naturally, I had no intention of picking up the phone!4 yearsJust got an utterly dodgy email regarding a camera that I allegedly bought and paid for through PayPal. The thing is, I never made such a purchase! I've double-checked my PayPal account, and there’s nothing there. Quite the con, if you ask me!PayPal4 yearsI'm in the same boat. They lured me in with the promise of a camera deal and mentioned PayPal. I gave them a ring, putting on a act to see where it would lead. The chap claimed to be representing PayPal, but it was all rather laughable-no mention of them in the email address at all. They then told me to fill out a form to cancel my so-called transaction. I played along, anticipating the trickery that was about to unfold. He instructed me to type in "Anydesk." Not unexpected! Lo and behold, the Anydesk website popped up, flaunting a big red button proclaiming "Download." For the uninitiated, Anydesk is a programme that grants remote access to your computer. Once activated, it displays a unique login number, which you then provide to the person on the line, who also has Anydesk running on their end. They input the number, gaining control of your machine, often leading to them locking your files and demanding a ransom to unlock them. After I logged into Anydesk, they inquired about what I saw on my screen. I told them what was there, and lo and behold, they asked if I could see a red button for download. I confirmed, and they urged me to click it for the dubious "form." At that juncture, I revealed my background in IT, explaining that I recognised Anydesk and their ploy to take control of my device. I admitted I was fully aware it was a scam from the get-go, just keen to see how far they'd push it. I didn't hold back, calling the bloke a shameless crook and suggested quite dramatically that he deserved a more severe consequence. After my little tirade, he abruptly hung up, not a word in reply. He had the typical Indian accent that seems common in these scams.PayPalAnydeskSubmit Your Own Report (0116 504 7374)
