This number said they were from PPL PRS but the digits didn’t line up. Asked me to send money through the call - pretty sure it’s a scam.

Got a call from a bloke saying his name was Liz and he was from PPL PRS or something like that. I didn’t bother calling back as I wasn’t sure if it was dodgy. Plus, we don’t use any tunes in the office anyway, just some royalty-free music that’s built into our VoIP phone system, so probably nothing to worry about.

I got a call from someone claiming to be PRS Music License, but it seemed like a total scam to me. Be careful!

You wouldn’t believe it, I’m actually a PPL/PRS member since I’m a musician and run a record label. So when I got this call and the voicemail, I was a bit worried at first. But something didn’t sit right with me. I checked with my former manager who’s now checking it out, and then I came here and realised it’s a scam. Guess they messed with the wrong person this time, haha :) I’m thinking of also informing the Musicians’ Union just to be safe.

I received a voicemail from a gentleman who identified himself as Louis, stating there was a problem concerning my license and urging me to return the call due to its legal nature. He was quite courteous, but the lack of a company name raised my suspicions straight away. After browsing through other users' experiences on this site, I decided to ring up PRS using a number I already had, only to discover that there were no issues with my license at all. Clearly, it wasn’t them who had reached out to me. Without a doubt, this seems to be a scam, so I won’t be calling him back. I've saved the number just in case he tries to contact me again.

I got a call from someone named Lisa at PPL PRS, and the moment I asked her what those letters meant, she just cut me off. Definitely sounds like a scam to me.

They say they’re from PPL PRS and insist you need a licence, but honestly, it’s all just a scam. Don’t waste your time calling back if they leave a voicemail - best to just ignore them altogether.

I had a chap call me earlier, inquiring whether we're allowed to play music in the office using speakers. He mentioned that the discussion is being recorded.

I encountered a rather insistent woman who seemed absolutely adamant that I ought to acquire a music licence. However, I was completely clued up on the regulations and know I’m not obligated to have one, given that my home office is quite modest and devoid of any music playing. If anyone finds themselves in a similar situation, I strongly recommend double-checking with a legal expert before consenting to a music licence. Better safe than sorry!

They assert that a music licence is essential for your enterprise, but honestly, it feels like they’re just attempting to pull a fast one on folks!

I had an unpleasant experience with a chap masquerading as someone from PRS. He spoke in a tone that one might associate with an undercover officer, even though it was well after office hours. Definitely smells like a scam to me!
