Felt a bit dodgy and sounded like a scammer who wanted to grab our account info. When I asked them for the account password, they just cut the call straight away.

The initial call claimed to be from Octopus Energy, which, for the record, we have no dealings with. Naturally, I decided to terminate that conversation rather swiftly. To my surprise, they rang back just moments later, insisting they represented a different energy provider. I politely informed them that I wasn’t keen on having any discussions and requested that they refrain from calling again. To my astonishment, the caller then threatened to ring me up "400 times" if I didn’t engage. Following that encounter, we were inundated with over 30 additional calls, though I’ve since taken the step to block the number. I get the feeling that this caller is not merely running a scam but may also be dealing with some significant personal issues.

Someone rang claiming to be from SSE, saying they were the company supplying us atm. I asked for the account holder’s name, and they gave some random person’s name. I ended the call, but they rang back right away with a different name from some business list. They mentioned our meter number was billed wrong, but when I asked how to sort out payment, they couldn’t explain. Then they whined about me being rude and making things hard for them - I just stuck the radio on speaker and got back to work.

I had a rather dubious call from a gentleman who identified himself as being from British Gas, claiming that we had been overcharged on our latest bill. However, when I pointed out that this was not the case, he seemed to have miscalculated the amount from our previous statement and began requesting our meter readings and account information.

In a flash, I googled the phone number, leading me to this site where I perused the previous reports before I could divulge any personal details.

I then informed him that I would reach out to British Gas directly for clarification, which seemed to upset him considerably. He retorted with, "Fine, go ahead and do all the legwork," before abruptly hanging up on me.

She insisted that there had been an error with my recent meter reading, and advised me to disregard any bill that appeared unusually high, assuring me a credit would follow. She then asked for my latest reading and my meter number. I told her I would take down the information but would prefer to speak with NPower directly. She maintained that they were indeed working for NPower. I made it clear that I'd be reaching out to my Account Manager at NPower instead, and abruptly, she hung up on me.
