Got a call today from what sounded like a Leicester number, but I reckon it was a dodgy foreign call centre using spoofing tricks. They were trying to get my personal info, claiming it was about some sort of licensing. Honestly, most of the time you don’t even need a licence for what they’re talking about. Best thing is just to ignore and steer clear of these calls.

This scam is still going strong as of June 2025! Absolutely don't share any details with them! Even if you give them just one small fact, like your staff count or the number of phones you use, it'll just lead to them trying to piece together more info bit by bit. Before you know it, they might be able to pretend to be you later on. The best thing to do is just block the number straight away. If you're unsure how to do that, get in touch with your phone company and they'll guide you through blocking it.

I can't believe how impolite this person was! From what others mentioned before, they started talking about the radio licence and even threatened to record our conversation. They claimed anything I said would be held against me. Honestly, it was really upsetting!!!

Got a call from 0116 478 2411 at work, but the line was dreadful - sounded like they were calling from some sort of rusty shed! They were asking to chat with a Director about a music licence, insisting they wouldn't speak to anyone else. I joked, "Does singing fall under that?" but honestly, it felt like a dodgy scam. The connection was rubbish, barely understandable. Plus, they had the cheek to say the call was being recorded! I told them ours are recorded too!

Over the past couple of days, I’ve received about eight calls from this number. They claim to be from some company, asking if we’ve got a music licence. My partner answered one of the calls and started asking questions. Turns out, they said they were calling from Cape Town and insisted you have to pay for a licence just to listen to the radio at home. My partner told them straight up he reckons it’s a scam, and the woman on the other end just laughed. Can’t believe people would do this - it’s such a pathetic, dishonest way to try and make money. Total scam!

These guys say they work with music licensing or something like that. I told them I don't play any music in my store, but they insisted they had proof and said they'd send it over email. Still, I've not received anything from them. The person on the phone had a really strong accent, almost hard to understand. Ever since that call, they keep ringing me every single day.

A woman claiming to be Keisha called and said she was with some "musics licenses prL" saying our license had expired. Bit fishy as we only sorted one out last week, so no way it’s already gone. Told her straight up she’s not with the real company, especially since she bungled the name (it’s PPL/PRS, mate). Suddenly she said “oh, can’t hear you” and then there was a rustling sound before she cut off. Definitely a scam, not knocking the actual PRS/PPL, but I’m not falling for this nonsense.

Got a call asking for our managing director. I told them they had the wrong number and that we don’t use music, so we wouldn’t be interested anyway. They said it wasn’t a sales pitch, just needed to record some details. When they asked for my full name and position, I flat out refused and told them not to ring again. My workplace got a call from a number asking about music services, which makes no sense as we never use anything like that. The person on the line had a very strong foreign accent, which felt a bit dodgy. I told them I'd check with my manager, then quickly figured out it was just a scam. We keep getting calls from a person named Ingel from PPL PRS asking about our music usage on site. For ages now, like two years or more, their messages come through and we've always told them we don’t play music. They just don’t seem to listen though. It’s getting a bit much, feels like harassment. After reading other folks’ experiences, I’m thinking of making a complaint. Honestly, they should just send an official letter instead of bothering by phone. With all these scams about, it’s really stressful.

I encountered a rather persistent lady from the same situation as previously described. When I clarified that we operate as a virtual organisation and that her queries were irrelevant, she became insistent on extracting more details about us.
