SCAM ALERT! Make sure to report every scam try right to the police fraud website. Just search ‘action fraud’ and head over to the ‘police.uk’ page. Find the ‘report a phishing attempt’ section and carefully read all the info there. Then put in the details of the scam, including any links or web addresses you saw. You don’t need to sign up and they won’t ask for personal info unless you actually lost money. Reporting all these calls and texts is the only way the police get a proper log of these dodgy attempts to scam us.

Just wanted to share a couple of tips if you're fed up with all these overseas scammers trying to trick people and bugging the rest of us. It does take a bit of patience, but I’ve started reporting every scam call and text to the police online (I keep the link handy in my bookmarks). Honestly, it’s going to need loads of people doing the same before we see any real change, but thousands report suspicious calls here daily. Don’t expect instant results, but if nobody bothers, these scams will just keep on happening endlessly.

The call came through from Leicester and the guy said his name was James. He thanked me for being polite since it was his first time doing this kind of job. Honestly, he seemed like a decent chap. Feeling sorry for him? Nah, not really. Since my phone showed the call was from Leicester, and I’m actually from there too, I asked him to confirm my postcode, then cheekily asked for his in return. I think I threw him off because he just hung up. They called back a couple of times but didn’t even say a word before ending the call. I kinda want to catch him again and mess with his script some more, see if I can totally baffle him!

Got a call from Reeta claiming she was from U.K. Choice. She spoke with a strong Indian accent and as expected, there were plenty of pauses like in offshore call centres. She seemed really polite and was just trying to ask a few questions. I reckon if I’d kept on talking it might have been a scam, so I ended the call and blocked the number. It was a spam call, but honestly she was very courteous and it’s not really her fault - I guess people have to take jobs like this to get by.
