I asked what the weather was like and he said it was winter! That made me suspicious he wasn't actually in London but somewhere like India. Then he just hung up on me!

I’ve encountered one of those delightful robotic voices that insists on transferring you to a "supervisor" or a genuine call centre operative from India as soon as you utter the word 'yes.' It’s rather maddening, as no matter how many of these numbers I manage to block, it’s as if they keep popping up like a game of whack-a-mole! It's a classic case of "one more number, please!"

Got another one of those scams - a recorded message asking if I'd had an accident, then if I made any sound, it switched to a real person. Proper good craic messing with them. Managed to keep the bloke waiting on the line for like 10 minutes! Ended up wasting about 20 minutes of their time.

These scammers are a pain, but instead of just hanging up straight away, try keeping them on the line for a bit. Make them jump through hoops and then begin giving silly answers.
