Got a call from a woman claiming to be from HMRC, saying that either I or my lawyer had to ring a certain number straight away or else there’d be serious trouble. Sounded fishy so I didn’t bother waiting to listen any more. Definitely a total scam like the other guy said.

I got a voicemail on my phone that sounded like a recorded message from a woman claiming to be from HMRC. She said either me or my solicitor needed to ring back and ask for someone called Denis Grey, an HMRC officer. The message threatened I’d be arrested if I didn’t get in touch, but it didn’t explain what alleged offence I was supposed to have committed or why it was so urgent. The tone was quite harsh, and at the end it kept stressing that I or my solicitor must reply by tonight or face serious consequences. A few hours before that, I’d had a call from 01233281514 which was also an automated message, pretty much the same as the latter. I’ve reported that separately. Of course, I ignored both calls and have blocked those numbers to avoid any more hassle.
