Got a voicemail saying I need to get in touch about some legal matter. No way I'm ringing them back, sounds like a total scam. Serious legal stuff wouldn’t be left by some robot voice, right? Definitely dodgy.

Got a recorded message supposedly from HMRC, but there's no way that was genuine. Just let it go and so far, nothing dodgy has come of it!

Today, my mother-in-law, who’s quite elderly, got a call that really upset her. I honestly think these kinds of calls need to be reported to the cops to put an end to bothering older folks like this.

My elderly Dad got a recorded call threatening some kind of legal trouble and asking him to call back. Honestly, BT ought to do something and go after these scammers for once.

An older family member of mine got a call from this dodgy number claiming she owed £1000 in unpaid tax dating back to the late 90s and early 2000s. They said the police would get involved if she didn’t pay up, which really shook her. I kept calling them back just to mess with them a bit. The person who picked up told me his name was Daniel Reed and said he was calling from HMRC, but honestly his accent was very heavily Asian, didn’t sound at all like the usual.

Got two texts today on my landline claiming to be from HMRC. They told me to seek legal advice and warned not to ignore the message, asking me to ring back a number. Luckily, I didn’t reply and saw from others that it’s probably a scam!

I received a voicemail that only had the tail end of the message, warning me not to disregard the call as they were initiating legal proceedings. Naturally, I took it upon myself to search the number online to uncover its legitimacy. It appears, like many others have noted, to be a robocall. I can assure you, I owe no debts, but I must say, it is rather unsettling to receive such a threat.

Got a call earlier today saying I'd get arrested and my bank accounts frozen, with bailiffs and prison being mentioned. I rang the police and they confirmed it was a scam. Won't be picking up next time, but I can see how some folks might honestly freak out. Funny enough, I got another call while typing this!

I received a similar message from a different number, 01865413305, and it really gets under my skin. It's infuriating, especially since older folks might fret over these sorts of things. Clearly, it’s just a dodgy scam designed to panic you into ringing them back. The quality of the message is terribly unclear and sounds so robotic. What’s more, they bizarrely conclude with “take care and goodbye,” which I find rather peculiar.

Just had a similar experience. I received a recorded message referencing a legal issue. Interestingly, the day prior, I had a call purporting to be from HMRC, yet this number shows up as international. My phone’s ID displayed it as such. No doubt about it, it’s a scam. I'm going to report this!

Honestly, I found it ridiculous and pointless. But I can see how some folks might get really worried, especially if they manage to catch the awful recorded message. No way HMRC would ever do something like that. This needs looking into - it’s sketchy and probably against the law!

If you’re bored and want a laugh, ring this number and keep them hanging. It’s a total scam, and they tend to be pretty rude when you answer. Perfect way to mess about for a bit if you’ve got time to kill! :-)

Just had my second call in as many days from someone saying they're with HMRC, threatening legal action. It's a complete con, so don’t bother answering. Seriously, when will the authorities step in and put a stop to these scammers? They need to be caught and locked up for good!

Honestly, this call was really intimidating. When will the phone companies or regulators step in to sort out these types of calls? Definitely not calling them back. I've also reported and blocked the number through BT 1572.

I received three calls from this number earlier today. Like others have mentioned, the voice was quite unclear, prompting me to give them a ring back myself. A gentleman answered, and I detected a hint of a Dutch accent. When I questioned him about the purpose of the call, he asked if I was aware of any tax matters. I replied that I wasn’t, to which he promptly said he would ring me back as he needed to take an urgent call from his superiors.

I've just received a voicemail on my landline, and it echoes what others have shared on this platform. I have no plans to return the call as I'm quite certain I've not done anything warranting legal proceedings. It seems to me that anyone receiving such calls should simply disregard them. If HMRC genuinely wished to contact you, they would send a letter, and if it were urgent, a clear phone call would ensue-not some garbled, intimidating automated message. Moreover, a number claiming to originate from London certainly wouldn’t start with 0116!

Got loads of calls from 01163040838 today, 30/05/2017. Total SCAM, so definitely don’t bother calling back. A woman said we or our lawyer needed to ring her ASAP because it was urgent and there might be legal trouble. WE NEVER PICK UP OR RING BACK UNKNOWN NUMBERS. We have all our contacts saved and they play a special tune, so if a normal ring comes through, we just ignore it. Pretty sure the scammers will give up before we do. Will make sure to report this to the right authorities.

I've received three rather alarming messages from this number, each one threatening legal repercussions and insisting it was urgent. Had loads of calls from 01163040838 earlier today, 30/05/2017. Total SCAM, wouldn’t suggest calling them back. A woman said it was urgent and something about legal stuff, told us or our solicitor to ring her back. We never answer numbers we don’t know. Phone’s set to play a tune for anyone in our contacts, so usually just ignore normal rings from unknowns. Honestly, I reckon they’ll give up before we do. I’ll be reporting this to the proper authorities for sure.

Got a voicemail telling me it was urgent and either me or my solicitor had to ring back straight away or I’d get hit with legal trouble. They rang me 3 times in just one day, and two of those calls were less than an hour apart. Before this, the same number 01636270820 called me with exactly the same warning. Today I got another call from 01163040838, looks like its a scam again. A few days earlier, I also got three calls from 00359894283237, but both these numbers played the same awful automated recording. I recently received a rather alarming phone call insisting that I urgently return their call due to some critical matter that apparently couldn't be overlooked. It felt quite menacing, to be honest. Clearly a scam, but I worry that vulnerable older folks might easily get caught up in it. Could it possibly be one of those numbers where you're hit with exorbitant charges for each minute you're on the line? It wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Got another call like this over the weekend, it was some warning about legal trouble from HMRC. The message left was exactly the same dodgy recorded voice as last time. The first number they used was 01636270820 and this latest one is 01163040838. Honestly, these scammers are really risky, especially for folks who might not be able to spot the trick straight away.

This particular number has dialled my mother repeatedly, and, much like others have mentioned, the recording quality leaves much to be desired, yet the threats conveyed are unsettling. Although it’s obviously recognised as a scam, it remains a source of anxiety, especially for the elderly and those who are more vulnerable.

I got a text from BT and it was a badly recorded message. A woman’s voice said the call was from HMRC and told me to get in touch with my solicitor or legal advisor. Then it started threatening legal action if I didn’t call back. I just ignored it, seemed dodgy to me.

Got a voicemail from a woman on my home phone, but the sound was really bad. She said I had to ring this so-called ‘legal caller’ right away. Claimed it was urgent and that if I didn’t call back, they’d begin some kind of legal case against me. Seemed pretty dodgy to me.

Got a call on my BT landline on 18th May ’17 from someone saying they were from HMRC. They left a message but when I asked any questions, they got really rude and told me not to interrupt them. Received two calls today from this number. The quality of the recording was absolutely dreadful. I could barely decipher it, but it seemed to claim to be from HMRC.
