I got a call from a lady who said her name was Sarah. She claimed she had info about a crash I was supposedly in, and assured me I wasn’t to blame. She asked if that was true, and when I said yes, she just went quiet. Honestly, I was kinda shocked she didn’t expect me to agree, so I ended the call.

I got this call from a Leicester number, and after grilling the first person who rang me, they passed me on to another guy. When I gave him the same sort of questioning, he just cut the call off. Is there any way to find out exactly who these people are? They must be traceable surely?

Got a call from a bloke claiming he was with British Telecom. I asked him for some kind of proof but all he did was keep saying he was from BT again and again. I told him that saying it over and over wasn’t actually proof. Eventually he gave me a number to ring, some 0800 800 something, which seemed legit enough. I just said cheers and ended the call, then jumped right on this site to check him out.

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent again, I think it’s the second or maybe third time this week. Just like others mentioned, she promised a 25% discount plus free calls for two years. The first person who rang seemed to already know loads about me. When I requested she send all the details in writing by post, she hung up straight away. Didn’t bother sticking around for the usual spiel again - honestly, I’ve got better things to do.

Got a call today from this number, some woman who said her name was 'Louise' and she spoke with a foreign accent. She rang my elderly mum early this morning, claiming there was a discount on her phone bill. Then she asked my mum to verify her bank details to update a direct debit. The caller already knew the first four digits, which seemed right. When she tried to get the rest of the numbers, my mum got suspicious and it sounded like the woman got irritated. In the end, my mum just put the phone down!

Like the others have said, the phone buzzed but there was nothing but silence when I answered, then a short wait, and suddenly they just said "bye" and hung up! Looking at what people have said before, I'd say this one’s pretty sketchy.

I got calls at least three times on my older sister’s phone. It’s the exact same trick others have mentioned. Definitely a con. Just hang up and don’t share any info with them - never give out your details!

Got a ring from one of those annoying telemarketers trying to sell me 35% off my BT bill. Ended up telling them a wrong birth date and a totally fake card number. The woman on the other end got proper mad, which was hilarious. Just hanging up means they’ll probably keep showing up, but feeding them bogus info seems to get you dropped from their calls quicker.

My mum got a call from this number saying they were from BT and offering to reduce her bill by 25% for the next two years. They then tried to get her to give her bank card details. Luckily, she ended the call straight away. Definitely sounded like a scam to me.

Got a call from an Indian woman claiming to be from BT. She told me they recognised me as a loyal customer and offered free calls along with no line rental charges for two whole years. Sounded brilliant! But then she wanted my date of birth, and that’s when I ended the call. Definitely seemed fishy and far too good to be true!

Got a call from a lady with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT. She rang me up twice, saying I was a loyal customer so my bill would be cut by 35%. She even had my name and address right, and I ended up telling her my date of birth. She also mentioned the first four digits of my debit card, which freaked me out a bit. Then she asked for the rest of the card number to supposedly reset my Direct Debit, but I wasn’t having any of it and said no.

Just got a call from a lady saying she was from BT about 10 mins ago. When I asked who she was, she repeated BT and I told her she’s rung me before and to stop calling. I asked to be taken off their list and then I hung up. Feels like a total scam to me.
