Got a call from 01162658799 but they didn’t leave any message. I dialled the number back but it just said not recognised. Pretty sure it’s Leicester social services ringing about my mum, she’s 90 and living in a care home. It’s really frustrating that you can’t get through to them when they ring. Feels like it’s not really urgent or they’d let you call back properly.

I got a call from this number and after a bit of digging, turns out it’s a general line used by several departments within Leicester County Council. When they leave a voicemail, they always include a specific direct number to the relevant department because you can’t ring back the main 01162658799. For me, it was someone from social services checking up about a carer who rents a place from me. So yeah, at least in my experience, it’s a legit call.

Got a call from an unknown number but didn’t pick up. They left a voicemail, but it was all automated - definitely no real person. My voicemail’s set to read out messages, and I haven't actually spoken to anyone today. The message they left was something like, “Please let us know if the advisor you spoke to resolved your issue. leicestershire county council uses a system that makes calls over the internet to cut costs. pretty much anyone at the council can make calls this way. even though each staff member has a unique number, if you get a call from this number it means someone actually tried to reach you. if they didn’t leave a callback number, just ring the council and check if they know about your missed call. it’s not a scam.
