Someone rang me saying that two payments on my card from companies I never deal with looked dodgy. But actually, I use both those companies all the time. Then they told me to press 1 if I wanted to confirm the transactions or 2 to speak to someone. I hit 2 and asked what bank they worked for, but as soon as I asked, they just hung up. The person on the phone was an Asian woman.

I noticed a missed call from this number on my phone today, 27/02/2020, so I decided to call back first thing in the morning around 6 am when I woke up. A man picked up, and he definitely didn’t sound British. He told me that he had missed calls from my number a few times and mentioned he tried ringing me yesterday. At the time, I thought he was being honest, but now after ending the call, I’m not so sure he was telling the truth.

Someone called saying my car was parked in my town and I hadn’t paid for parking. I asked them what the car’s make and number plate were, and they just said I should know. How am I supposed to know when I don’t even have a driving licence or a car? Then they asked if I was sure, and I told them I don’t drive at all.

Got loads of calls from this number last week. Picked up today but no one said a word. Felt like having a go at them, but it’s pointless. Cops or courts never seem to act. These scammers should be stopped, they try to scam and bother folks for money. Why is it they keep getting away with it? As I type this, I’m sure these muppets are targeting old and vulnerable people. Politicians claim they’re on it, but who knows... maybe Brexit has them too distracted.

When I told him I wouldn’t share my bank details, he snapped back with “you’re making a big mistake, you won’t get the pack, thanks for wasting my time, bye” and just hung up. Seriously, don’t answer if you get this call. Hope they get caught soon.

Hmm, I’m not sure if this is really some council fraud team checking your benefits or housing info. It usually goes like this: they ask for your name, then confirm it, next they say they’re sending some package and mention your postcode. If you say yes, they do another check. If you say no, they ask you again for your postcode. Bit fishy if you don’t even live in that council house. Weird stuff, so watch out. You never really know who’s on the other end of the line.
