This number keeps ringing me multiple times every single day and when I pick up, there’s this awkward silence for a few seconds. I reckon they’re calling lots of people at once and waiting to see who replies first, so they don’t speak to you straight away. Now if I spot the number, I just don’t even answer. And if I happen to pick up not knowing who it is, I end up hanging up when there’s nothing but quiet. Honestly, I wish something could be done to block these callers, they’re so irritating and stressful!

I've had the misfortune of picking up the phone only for the line to go dead, and it's happened twice today! I recently received a call from 0116 242 1980, and the person on the other end insisted they were with TalkTalk. However, I’m rather sceptical about their legitimacy. They used my full name when addressing me, which raised a few eyebrows, and then proceeded to inquire if I was the account holder for TalkTalk. It soon became apparent that their intention was to peddle mobile phone contracts through what seems to be cold calling. I can’t help but think it’s rather unlikely that TalkTalk would engage in such practices, so I’m raising my guard. Quite dodgy if you ask me!

Today, I received a call from this number and it’s not the first time either. It simply can't be a legitimate call from Talk Talk, given that I'm not even one of their customers. Over the past few months, there have been three different numbers that seem to ring me at intervals; it’s almost like clockwork. For a week or two, I get hounded by these calls and, interestingly, they all seem to land around the same time. The number in question claims to be Talk Talk, while one is supposedly from WWF, and another is linked to Hillarys Blinds. Perhaps I’m mistaken, but it strikes me as peculiar that they might all be sharing some sort of contact list. It’s just very strange that I could go months without a peep and then suddenly find myself inundated with calls from all three of them in quick succession. I find these repeated interruptions rather infuriating. My phone needs to be available for emergencies and dear friends and family to reach me, yet these constant unsolicited calls drain my battery and prevent me from getting through to the people I genuinely want to talk to. I often have to silence my phone, and as a result, I frequently miss crucial calls.

When I asked where they had my number, they said it was from the catalogue company J D Williams. I've never used them, so I know that's not true. The only ones who should have my number are family and Talk Talk. I’m convinced Talk Talk must have passed my details to an outside company. This kind of thing really shouldn’t happen when you’ve paid to keep your number ex-directory.

I've been getting repeated calls from these lot, even though my number’s ex-directory. They try to push me deals on gas, electricity, broadband and all that. When I asked how they got hold of my number, they said it was from some catalogue company called J D Williams - which I've never used or signed up with. Only my family and Talk Talk have my number, so I’m really puzzled. I asked them to take me off their list, yet the calls just keep coming. Really annoying!

Some company called U-Swtch or something like that keeps ringing me up about my gas and electric provider. They bother me daily, even two times a day sometimes.
