Nearly got caught out by this call as the person had loads of my info and spoke with a British accent, so I thought it was my electric company. Then they started talking about renewing my business supply account and asked for my bank info and password!
But I don’t even have a business electricity contract!
Sounds like SSE’s customer data might’ve been compromised.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from UCL or something, said they worked with British Gas and wanted to give me a quote for electricity prices when my contract's up.

They called saying they could cut the costs of my business electricity. Just got the new bill and it's actually twice as much as before. Definitely steer clear of them!

So I got a call on my business VoIP line, which I only use for certain things. The person on the other end said they were from ***mumble mumble something***, claiming they were working with EDF energy and that I needed to renew my contract. Thing is, EDF don't have this number registered with them at all. My guess is they somehow tap into the electricity database and then pull business info from sites like Yelp or maybe Google Maps. Seems like they’re trying to trick you into letting them handle your energy supply. It was a robo call and when I started questioning them, they got a bit annoyed. Can’t say I blame them.
